Please recommend a folding knife

I like the Benchmade Griptilian. I would strongly suggest it, I have used one for a while and love it. :D

ah~~!

Spyderco Delica vs. Benchmade Griptilian

You guys helped me a lot but also put me in such a quandary:D

Anyone made a comparison of the two? which one makes a better "performance", putting the sequence of importance from higher to lower: blade, comfort, appearance.

Don't waste your money, get a Sebenza - you will love it! The _absolute folder_ ! :D

Save yourself the trouble and get both! A Mini Grip (Griptilain is 3 1/2" and the Mini Griptilian is 2 7/8", which is more like what you want) shouldn't cost you more than $65, and a ZDP-189 Delica 4 (the very high end, high hardness model) will run you about $72, with other Delica 4s being $44, $46, and $55 at New Graham.

At worst you're spending $160 on two folders that just won't quit.

 Good luck!

The Delica 4 is flatter, the mini Griptilian bulkier to carry. Both perform well for mid-range folders.

Peter, where did you get these prices? I visit knifecenter and the price for griptilian is higher than what you suggested. Any site recommended?

thanks for your suggestions! Really appreciate it!

I saw this from knifecenter, very interesting design. anyone has this?

I own both models. What exactly do you mean by "blade?" Both knives come from the factory scary sharp. VG-10 is easier to re-sharpen than the Griptilian's 154CM.

Comfort is a personal thing. I find the Delica's handle a bit more comfortable than the Grip's. I'm sure other BF members will not necessarily agree.

Appearence?..... That's something you need to decide on your own when you see both models.

The Grip's Axis-lock is stronger than the Delica's Top-lock. If you prefer to carry your folder tip-down, that's an option on the Delica, but not on the Grip.

Hope this helps! :)

Floatinglife- do a search of the forums for Byrd Wrench and you'll get a few results. I got a chance to try one out at the local gun show, and honestly, I think that it's more of a cool little gadget than a real multitool. Having the ability to make the knife a seperate piece is nice, but I find a stand multitool to be more useful and faster to use.

For KnifeCenter (their prices a little higher than NGK's)
$60.95 Grey Handle Mini Grip

$64.95 Black Handle Mini Grip

For NGK (New Graham Knives [the site that had the knives at the prices I quoted])

thanks much Monocrom and Peter! I am going to find a knife store and try both knives. I might buy one pretty soon. Will upload the pictures when I get my baby.

Thank you all for your help!

Good idea. Even better, for me, is knife inside the waistband, clip under the belt, as we say: IWB. Some knives are more comfortable to carry this way than others, but it's more secure than you might think. I carried fairly large folders in an office environment like this, and no one noticed.

Once owned a Delica. It was "old-school" Spyderco, i.e. complete zytel, clip and all. No steel clip on that one. However, passed it on to a friend. Hard to beat as an EDC, which is what you're looking for, right?

Esav Benyamin,
I'm new to this forum and website. It seems you know a lot about knives, inside and out. Care to offer your suggestions and comments on the following four knives:
1) Emerson Commander
2) Benchmade Paradiso 520
3) CRKT Lightfoot M1
4) CRKT Ryan Model 7
Comments on locks, handles, blade grinds, shapes, etc. anything and everything if you have the time. Thanks!

The Emerson Commander is a big, tough knife. Top quality. The handle ergonomics are the best of any knife I ever held. The blade is not particularly good for general utilty, as the point is pretty obtuse, but the knife does slice well. It was developed for self-defense, which puts it outside my interests, so I traded the one I had.

I have never even seen in person any of the other knives you listed, except for an auto variant of the Benchmade Presidio. I would recommend the 520 as the best general purpose of all those 4 knives, though.
