Please recommend a folding knife

How do you guys sharpen a knife? totally depends on your techniques on a benchstone or use a sharp maker? any recommendations?

We have a forum that covers sharpening. They already have some discussions you might find interesting:
The Toolshed: Knife Care, Maintenance, Tinkering & Embellishment

The Sharpmaker is an easy and effective way to begin. A benchstone or rod is also important and may be a better choice under certain circumstances.

I found that using the Sharpmaker helped me understand what was happening when I sharpened a knife and can do a fair job with just about anything now.

I keep a fine diamond stone and a double-sided folding DMT diamond sharpener handy, and a double-sided ceramic stone, also.

I received both the Spyderco Delica and Benchmade Ritter Griptilian now. I found the Griptilian is a real razor, much more sharper than Delica. The Delica, although shaves my hairs on my arm easily, does not go through my nails as easy and smooth as the Griptilian.

I am a newbie in knife, so please forgive the silly question, for anyone of you with experiences of both model (Delica and Griptilian), is this normal? or the Delica I received may possibly be a returned one?

Thanks much!

I will use it to ... serve as other tools..etc

Gotta admit, I really don't like the sound of that.

Why not add a sturdy Swiss Army Knife or multi-tool to the mix for all prying, turning screws, boring holes, etc., and then leave the single-blade folder for the cutting tasks for which it is designed?

Whatever you decide, keep a SAK handy to clean up the mess and pull the splinters from your hands...

thanks for your suggestions! Really appreciate it!

I saw this from knifecenter, very interesting design. anyone has this?

Spyderco Byrd Wrench

by15.jpg

I have the original SpydeRench (which was discontinued then revived as the Byrd Rench), that I keep in my glove box. The knife and screwdrivers work ok, although the bit holder isn't magnetic, so the bits have a tendancy to fall out while being used. The wrenchs aren't all that great. All in all, it's cool little tool (or interesting, as you said), but if you want a real quality, useful multitool look to a more traditional Leatherman-type.

I have both a Delica and a BM Mini Griptillian. Both are great knifes. I struggle to decide which to carry ever day. I bought the partialliy serrated Griptillian which I regret...wish I had the plain blade.

It's really a toss up. In my opinion, The axis lock on the Grip is 10 times better than the lock on the Delica. The lock on the Delica feels like any old lockback. On the other hand, feel in the hand of the Delica is more confortable than the BM Griptillian.

Both are great knifes!
