Please review Sparks thread

We want the same thing- to be able to talk to each other about some issues and even blade issues that would not be the same conversation in the general forums.

I never did like the split...complained to no avail. I chose to stay because it's not my house and see what happened to me?

thanx for the support. this thread has generated more traffic than my "review" thread. it wasn't even a REVIEW, i had no science or angles or timings ;P just comparison *grin* so, let's stop bothering the nice mods.

i think i get it. i can't mention anything else, except in passing. gotcha. (pssst, there were two non HI products, everyone is hung up on the fiskars ;>).

later, i will try to copy my posts, remove any mention whatsoever of other product, and try again - if folx feel like cutting and pasting anything they already said, all the better. i'll avoid the word review. hopefully this generates the kind of conversation i was hoping for. the placement in reviews pretty much killed that. if this meets the guidelines, as i hope, all will be good.

What I hate is that, when you are not allowed to even show comparisons between a HI Khukuri and another tool, that you lose a lot of the PURPOSE of some types of posts... That is, to show what is best to use for a certain type of job...
It was said that the reason for not comparison reviews, was that it would look like we were bashing the competitors, but some of the old comparison reviews had FAVORABLE reviews of other knives or tools...
When you ban them too, it makes it look like you are AFRADE of someone actually liking something other than HI, and that this forum is nothing more than a cheering squad for HI... And THAT will NOT get us any new members... And before someone says that we do not NEED new members... I will just say, that things like that have killed more clubs than anything else except politics(INTERNAL politics that is)...

All that may or may not be true, but this is Spark Blade forum and not Himalayan Imports BF.

I'm sad too.

It seems fairly extreme to force a move to Reviews because you mention another knife, it isn't like all threads on sharpening get moved or wilderness commentary or custom work, etc. . It should be fairly obvious if a post is about the HI khukuris, or one which is focused on comparing two products, and even then this isn't a policy which is applied to other forums in such rigor for the obvious reason that it pretty much makes it impossible to talk about the performance in a meaningful way. Most of the HI forum user base hangs out here so if I wanted to know how one of the new models compared to a GB Wildlife this would be the place to ask, it would get little attention in the reviews forum from the main HI crowd.

I see Cliff's point,
If HI khuks hadn't, at some time in my past, been compared to other knives, I'd probably never have bought one, much less as many as I now have. If I can't compare a blonde to a redhead, how do I know which one I like?

Cliff's right. No question. You need to reference 'peerage' or like items in order to examine, to define.

Yeah... This whole thing has me a little perplexed. I guess I ain't quick enough on my feet to keep up with what's going on here.

In addition to everything that everyone has parsed through concerning the new rules, there is another option that the supermods need to keep in mind: people can and will take their opinions elsewhere.

It is sad, munk. I can't imagine what the pinch must be like for you guys.
