Please say a Prayer for my Friend

Smoke sent. I'll make a confession- I've always liked Steelheart. In my youth (class of '87) I was a diehard, hardcore metalhead. Steelheart was a bit "wussy" to most of my friends but you can't deny the talent and musicality. And their songs had more hooks than a fleek of fishing boats! Although I imagine few people listen to Hair Metal today I'll always have a soft spot for those bands of my youth.:)

I'll be hoping against hope that your friend makes a miraculous recovery. Barring that, I wish his family and friends well. Especially his son- to lose your father at such a young age is a devastating thought.:(

Thanks again, everyone. No change yet in his condition. Frankie D. from Steelheart was there last night, and Michael and Chris Risola are taking a break from touring to get out here, so I'm told. They live in VA and FL now and happened to be closer to CT than that right now. It all seems like yesterday we were in our 20s, rockin' out, and yet seems so long ago at the same time. Our lives have all taken many turns. Nobody has "hair band" hair anymore either...and a couple of the Steelheart guys learned to like food too much. Every time I have seen them, I gave them sh*t about it, because it was fun to bust their chops -- John being one of them!

Yeah, Rob... John and Chris Risola, the lead guitarist, are more of the tie-dye wearing set...LOL. But then, our tastes change over the years. I now hate a lot of the music I liked in high school, and for the life of me can't figure out why I liked it!

Sorry, I'm rambling here...thank you again for the prayers and smoke...

He has my prayers, Brian.

Yes, he is very, very young...too young it seems. My athletic paramedic kid brother, age 42, had surgery for a cancerous brain tumor last month. We had no clue that anything was wrong until the tumor caused a stroke. I guess tragedy (health and accident) is no respecter of persons, or age.

Very best regards and wishes,

Thanks again, everyone. All of you who have lost loved ones too young, or been with them through tremendous illness or injury, please accept my condolences.

Here's one more tune they did that hit pretty solidly on the charts as well:

An offer of condolences from the wife & myself to his family.I lost a very good friend about 10 years ago to suicide. Not a day goes by I don't think of him, even 10 years later. It's very hard losing a loved one,but in time it does get a little easier.I'm not familiar with his music, but he seemed like a great talent.I'm sure he's up there pounding away with the great ones like John Bonham & Keith Moon.Hang in there Brian:thumbup:

Sincerely,John & Pat in NJ

Prayers from me and the fam to you and yours.......Geez.....41 is tooooo young. so sorry.

So so so sad to hear Brian....................My thoughts are with all concerned.

I put my family through something similar........2 X Brain hemorrhages, then a heart attack.

For some reason I pulled through it, but it was a dark, dark time for everyone.

This one hits me bad...........as John is a fellow percussionist

I really feel for you, family and friends

+ May your friend find eternal rest and comfort. He will be in my prayers. +

Here are some recent pics of him. Sorry to spam here. Just sucks.

A promo pic in car. New Year's eve 2006/7, and a gig in CT (both awesome nights).

You have great memories of him, Brian. You were lucky to know him and I think he has been lucky to know you. Yes, it seems like just yesterday that Steelheart was new metal to me- lots of people looked down their nose at 'em for being "Johnny-come-latelys". Now we all have more hair in our ears, less on our heads and a few extra donuts around our midsections. Time really flies.

I'll keep posted, hoping against hope for good news.:)

The loss of a friend leaves a hole in the heart that can never be really filled. Friends are hard to come by and harder yet to loose. My best friend from the service died a short time back and the memories of the times we shared will be with me always. Stay strong and keep the faith.
