Or at least the only one willing to admit I was totally taken in by HOKC knives complete with Cyrillic marking to think this was a Russian knife. The Google tells me it is made in China and I consider that very misleading advertising!

You got me curious. I read ads from a few vendors, and they mention a Russian designer. And it does look like they are a Russian product. But you can get a better price on dhgate. I am thinking that they are made in China. Welcome to the knife world!

I have one. Alexander Biryukov design, D2 steel, G10 scales, made by HOKC, China.

I challenge anyone simply looking at the picture and saying, "Chinese made!" Stipulated, I made my comment because I purchased one of these knives. Excellent knife but I hate being played.
That's funny! It looks like a Chinese knife to me. Why not?

The combined guard/fipper/hook opener. The fuller. The way the G10 looks. It screams gas station/mall ninja.

Someone tell Ernie they're ripping him off again.

The price and the term "designed by" weren't immediate flags that it's a Chinese made knife?

It shouldn't be a surprise that a Russian vendor would have knives made in China with Cyrillic writing on them, after all, there are plenty of American vendors who have knives made in China with English writing on them.

These days you really need to do some deep-dive research into where the knives you're looking to buy are made, if that sort of thing matters to you.

НОКС/NOX (НОжи Конструкции Скрылева/Knives Designed by Skrylev) is a Russian knife company founded in 1998. The company was founded by Igor Skrylev. Skrylev was the driving force, director, and designer of НОКС products from its inception until 2013. Sadly, he passed away in 2013. The company was taken over by Alexander Biryukov, a colleague and friend of Skrylev's. He still manages it today.
Until 2013, most of the knives were manufactured in Russia. After Igor Skrylev's death, all production was moved to China.
For a long time, the quality of NOX knives was terrible, comparable to cheap Chinese Kershaw knives or worse. Only in the last four or five years has the situation improved.
The knife in the photo was made in China.

They have a website. They even have two websites. :)

I can't trust any company that doesn't even have a website.
