PM2 Pricing

At what point will Spyderco stop raising the MAP prices on the PM2. It seems like every time I stumble across one from the typical sole knife websites it seems like it just keeps creeping higher and higher. I believe when I first got into knives I got one for 109 and now they're at 137 (depending on variation)..

How far do you all see the prices going before people stop buying them

I paid $120 for mine, and if I had a time machine I wouldn't own it today. I think that > $100 for a knife the value really starts to diminish. Sure they're nice knives, but I've found that I can get far more satisfaction for less. For example, the Spyderco Delica does everything the PM2 does (arguably better, too). It's also half the price.

I don't know where you're looking - i just checked one site, and it was $125.
More you the point, MAP pricing from Spyderco is relatively new; and I don't think it can be blamed for a series of price increases on this model.
As for the other part of your question, it's a popular knife... my personal opinion is that it is probably still worth the current price for most people that want it. (I hate the scales, and have to factor the cost of replacements into my consideration.)

Arguably. The only advantages of the Delica 4 in accordance to how I select my blades have been past releases with Aogami Super Blue/420J1 and HAP40/SUS 410 and support for the WilkinsGRIP D4 line of grips.

I think $150 for the S110v PM2 is about the best deal on a knife out there and if the handle was just a touch longer I'd still own mine.

I bought my PM2 in April 2014 from BladeHQ for $110.

I don't care for the knife, just never got around to selling it.

Whenever there is a change in president, prices for knives, guns, ammo, etc seem to temporarily rise as companies and people are uncertain of what financial and law changes will happen, and the demand rises due to the uncertainty.

If you look at the election and subsequent re-election of former president Obama, the demand for firearms and ammunition went way, way up. Prices went up to deal with the increased demand and lack of supply.

There was a period of time where the PM2 was scarce and prices went up, especially on the secondary market.

If the new establishment does what it claims, prices should stay the same or even go down if the value of the dollar rises.

I dislike S30V, and do think the PM2 is a little overpriced, except for the S110V version.

I think 110-120 is a decent price point for the regular s30v model.

For me and I'm sure a lot pof people the pm2 was the gateway knife that got me into higher priced knives.

buy them in the exchange then. i dont find the increase a problem at all, but i usually buy sprint runs that cost over 200.

That wouldn't make a lot of difference because of import tax.
I am not saying I regret it in my opinion it was worth it :)

No - PM2 prices are quite reasonable compared to price raises of other knives (Spyderco or non-Spyderco). If one is to blame for the price raise, that would be the entire knife industry.

I see the Para 2 as a great value.
The one s30v I have was about $115 new, 2 years ago.
Haven't seen them for $137 in the US anywhere.

I paid $125 for a lefty PM2 about a month ago give or take. I feel that it's a fair price. I wouldn't say it's a bargain, but wouldn't say it's overpriced either. If it was $15 or so cheaper it'd be a great buy, if it were $15 or so more expensive I'd have been disappointed with my purchase. Where it's at I feel like I paid just about what the knife is worth. Don't know if MAP has anything to do with it.

If you're looking for a better deal on a Spyderco look at the Manix 2. It's $25 less expensive and the better knife, IMO. That's one that I feel is a great bargain.
