PM2 Pricing

Most knives are overpriced if you don't have the sickness :D

I think it's still a good value. Their biggest production competitor for my money is ZT, but they have distinctly different products right now which makes them harder to directly compare. For example, the G10/steel/S30v 0566 and even 0350 are more expensive than a G10/steel/S30v PM2. A G10/S30v Benchmade 940 is much more expensive, as is a G10 North Fork. None of these are great comparisons I suppose, but out of the big 3 I'd say Spyderco is doing right by me.

The PM2 with s30v steel is fairly priced considering the materials, build quality, and amazing ergonomics. Compared to the cost of new models with less appeal, the price is a bargain.

I m disappointed in how a number of newer models from most companies have been much higher priced compared to introductions a few years ago. Including, I regret to say, Spyderco (d allara!).

Now a relative bargain price for a knife is only based on the higher market prices overall.
Knife enthusiasts will have to vote with their feet, er, wallets. For me, 200 dollars is too much to par for a nice mid range knife. Maybe the country has gotten wealthier tha I realize.
IMHO.

At what point will Spyderco stop raising the MAP prices on the PM2. It seems like every time I stumble across one from the typical sole knife websites it seems like it just keeps creeping higher and higher. I believe when I first got into knives I got one for 109 and now they're at 137 (depending on variation)..

How far do you all see the prices going before people stop buying them
Don't expect prices to stop increasing: very few things in life ever decrease in cost long term. Labor cost is always a major input cost for any product, and everyone along the vertical supply chain wants to be paid (more): miners, truck drivers, machinists, foundry workers, sales, management, etc. I'm sure if/when you receive a pay raise that cost is passed along to the consumer. It's just a fact of life. I'd rather pay slightly more for the same quality going forward rather than have a manufacturer try to maintain a price-point by cutting back on quality. I agree with Cory that the PM2 is priced fairly for what it is, and that the Manix2 still represents a great value by comparison.
