PM2 - tip up or tip down?

How can you say one is safer than the other. Both tip up or tip down can be equally safe when positioning the blade wedged against the seam of your pocket. It does not matter if it is tip up or tip down in that case. If the blade is facing the inside of the pocket tip up and tip down both have safety issues equally. Its either the potential of getting cut putting your hand in your pocket or pulling it out. Again both are equally dangerous in this case.

Do you? I usually just put my knife inside my pocket without really making any adjustments. Usually right on the center. That's where I was coming from. Detent on pm2 is good so it is unlikely for it to open inside your pocket but theoretically speaking, tip down is safer. People with proper knowledge like you can of course minimalize these potential dangers.

Tip-up, right front pocket, knife positioned all the way to the right so the spine of the blade is hard against the side of the pocket, is theoretically safer because the blade cannot open and even if it opened a little bit you put your hand down into the other side of the pocket.

There are so many other ways that people carry that the "safe" aspect of it doesn't apply.

Ah ok. To answer you question. Yes I do. Each and every time I put my knife in my pocket it goes in tip up, right pocket, against the seam of my pocket. This is how I have been carrying for years after cutting myself carrying tip down with the blade exposed. Since then I have never been cut while reaching into my pocket.

I just switched to tip up today after reading this thread. I actually like it more. I've been carrying my PM2 tip down for a year. Thanks guys

I bet you will find it much more of a natural fluid motion to draw the knife and deploy the blade.

Yes I do. It's seems more natural. Plus I like the feel of the pocket clip in hand now.

Would someone please explain this to me? I have posted in detail how I carry and how I draw, and I've posted in detail how it doesn't work for the 6 or so knives that I regularly carry tip up. Nobody has responded with a rational explanation.

To answer the other question posted- I think it is completely reasonable that a person would take the time to position their tip up knife with the blade against the seam of the pocket. I do this frequently, mainly because there isn't much room in my pockets and I need all the help I can get.
