Pm2 work knife alternatives?

Ah - got it. ;)

If you like those things about the PM2, I would definitely check out a Bodacious. It's been my most carried Spydie since I picked it up - really digging this design. No finger choil and the grip gets you right up next to the cutting edge. The G10 has a matte texture, and I have used it with wet hands - not slippery at all for me.

I'm going to look into this one!

I’ve been through a lot of knives in my day. The one I’ve been most impressed with for comfort of use and ruggedness, at least for me to this point, has been the Demko AD20s. But, they’re not usually inexpensive.

IMO Cold Steel makes great, strong knives capable of hard work at a decent price point. I’m a huge fan of the 4Max Scout as it is a bulletproof beater, but I understand not everyone likes carrying something that big and heavy. The AD10 is a great option, but still beefier than some like, but I don’t think it’s unwieldy at all. The Bush Ranger is very comfortable and lighter than the AD10.

Of the Spydercos, my picks would be the Manix 2 XL or GB2 for harder work. While I like the PM2, I’ll agree with posters above that it’s not the most comfortable if you have to bear down on it for longer term hard cutting. The Shaman and Bodacious seem like they’d be better, but I don’t have any experience with either of those.

As for Benchmade, everyone seems to overlook the Presidio 2, but it may be their most underrated model as a practical user.

I would consider serrated edges for work, they cut longer and better.
My serrated edge users:
Caribbean Sheepfoot SE,
Tasman Salt SE,
Native Salt SE,
Chaparral SE

My plain edge workhorses:
GB2, it's the one stoppeng me from getting a Bodacious
Stretch 2XL Gray G10 Cruwear,
Doug Ritter RSK
Manix 2
linerlock Military
Native Chief
Native (Rex45, Magnacut, Spy27)

I like the other suggestions, but offer these for consideration:

Budget option: Buck 110 Slim Select (thumbstud and pocket clip)
Bigger budget: Buck 110 Slim Pro TRX or Hunter Sport (thumbstud and pocket clip)

I’d just recommend sticking with peel ply g10 whichever way ya go.

Any of these would make great work knives!

Good God, Sir. That's too much awesome to post in a single photo. Almost dropped my phone.

All my LG's/D7's are relatively smooth. PJ, swoop, half barked, laser each. So I couldn't recommend for wet work.

Don't do it man norcalAF norcalAF , It wil be too much. If yours show up, I'll pass out. :)

I too work in HVAC and long ago adopted a small sturdy fix blade, faster and easier to deploy for cutting open boxes or stripping Armaflex from lines. Much easier than dealing with a folder and lock. Stout enough that it can do light prying, or wire cutting when you don't want to go down the ladder to get your cross cuts. My old work knife just a got retired.

I am trying out a $50 Kizer Deckhand, it seems to be a good design, the handle could be a frog hair bigger, and that kydex sheath had to go, rides too high, and too hard to find the hole without stopping looking for it. Office folks don't twice about a tradesman with a small belt knife.

Another HVAC tech here and I lean towards an otf, there are plenty with great blade shapes………Hogue, Axial & Tekto come to mind.
If you’re leaning towards manual?? Manix in G10 is a phenomenal work knife!
Mine is in 110v……..work horse that is grippy and easy to open with gloves on.

In that size class good choices would be endela, endura, manix, and Ritter RSK.

The endela is almost exactly the same size as the PM2, and costs less. Available in a variety of steel options (I see one vendor who still has the PD#1 version available, too).
