I wear 5.11 Taclite Pro pants, and have had no issues with any of my pockets getting torn... And I have owned in order some of the "worst offenders" listed here -Cold steel recon 1, benchmade triage, and Strider SNG DGG. My pants still look brand new! I also carry every day. Perhaps it isn't the knives faults, nor the clips... but the pants?![]()
Can't wear my commando pants to work...so maybe? Might also be you don't need to knife fight many while wearing your commando pants ......so not much use for that knife...and no pocket damage?![]()
My Cold Steel folders are hard on pants, but my work pants (which take 90% of the abuse) are Riggs ripstop cargos and they have a leather patch that wears really well right where I clip my knife. I have knives with less aggressive clips for my "after hours" pants. This gives me an excuse to have multiples. I agree with the earlier post that I'd rather have some premature wear on my pants than have a loose clip and potentially loose a knife. There are a couple benchmades out there somewhere that didn't stay clipped to my pocket :-(
