Pocket knife questions?

What? We're not midgets. I carry ZT560 and XM-18 and XM-24's in my pockets and my jeans are a size 5 - not loose or big.

I was not speaking about the size of women as a whole, just making an observation on the ridiculousness of the mini front pocket that designers sadly inflict upon ladies with style.

And chances are high that I'm shorter than you.:D

Some do, but women don't wear all the same type of pants either. Army uniform pants, for example, have same size pockets regardless of gender. In addition some women carry purses, wear coats, clip their knives inside their waistband, etc. There is just as much variety and tastes in knives for women as there are for men. Chromosomal makeup has zero to do with knife purchases.

All you say is true.

I only meant to give a reason to why directing this question to women and not men has merit.

Moondrop said that small pockets made her change how she carries and mostly small knives have been mentioned in the thread so far. That could be the other ladies reason as well, I don't know. I still think this is an honest, innocent discussion geared towards the fairer sex and don't see a problem with that.

I can think of several good reasons why the OP might have wanted to know what women prefer and not one of them has anything to do with being a sexist.

My wife carries a Victorinox Alox Electrician in her work pants pocket. She uses the hell out of that one. I am always having to resharpen it for her. She keeps a Victorinox Rambler on her keys. She has a Boker Subcom in her car. Her collection includes a purple Kershaw Leek and the Victorinox 2016 limited edition Pioneer, Cadet, and Classic in orchid alox. Those are her shelf queens, though.

She gets more daily use out of her pocket knife than I do mine.

I assumed it was because women are smarter than men. They would know more about the best types of knives to carry.

i wish my wife were smarter than me. she has my old delica and a victorianox camper in her purse. she has also claimed dibs on my micro recon 1 because it's cute. yet she uses her teeth to open packages more often than not.

she doesn't get it. my dental benefits are terrible.

DocT: Thank you for your comments.

Now the reason that I started this thread is purely out of curiosity thank you for all of your replies please have a nice weekend.

No one called anyone a sexist. To my knowledge at least. I asked the OP why the specification of gender when chromosomal makeup has nothing to do with knives or knife carry, and I believe that was a legitimate inquiry. Nearly every few days or a week there is a thread on this forum about women's specific carry as if they are some easily defined, homologous category. Women make up half the population, and they are in fact quite diverse in all their interests, occupations, hobbies, wardrobe, EDC carry, etc. You do not see a men's specific carry thread popping up all the time on this site. Why is that? Because most people would agree that there is nothing to glean from specifying the male gender. There is variance covering the entirety of the knife industry. There isn't there a thread every week about what do African Americans carry either. I assume that would raise some eyebrows as to why the specificity as well. If you want to see a big variety of knives, then you could simply ask to see everyone's carry. If you want to specify certain knives then ask a question that has a bearing on actual knife tasks. Gender has no bearing on knives.

My wife carries a Spyderco Delica or Lava, or the Benchmade 707.
She used to carry a Byrd Cara Cara with G-10 handle in her purse, till she lost it somehow (it is a bigger knife).

The Delica, Lava and 707 all work with the silly small pockets on many pairs of women's pants.

If a woman want to carry a knife in a purse, the size options open way up.
Same if she can find pants with decent sized pockets, but those seem to be harder to find.

I've bought my wife several knives, including a boker gentleman's folder with Mother of pearl scales and a Damascus leek. But the one that's always in her purse is the Languoille with the folding blade and corkscrew..
