Pocket organizers and pocket organizer setups

I actually removed the side loop on mine.
For me theres no room for anything but this organizer in my pockets , well technically theres room but with the pocket organizer in my pocket theres little room for my hand to fish anything else out.

I like the loop much more than I thought I would. It’s great as an attachment point, but not as a pull loop.

I carry my main flashlight clipped in the same pocket as my organizer. There’s no spare room, but it’s just the right amount of room. I had the same setup with the maxpedition.

The yellow birch outfitters pockit pico is my favorite organizer so far, the main reason being that it’s simple and slim.

It has a dump pouch on the front. I just keep some earplugs and countycomm tweezers in here. Sometimes other random small items.

This middle pouch holds a cloth for cleaning glasses and a silicon diffuser for my maratac aaa light.

The main stuff is in the back. Ever present is my favorite edc knife pattern the schrade made 3 3/8” jr cattle, this one being shapleigh branded. Maratac brass peanut lighter, brass fisher space pen, and today I just got a brass maratac aaa flashlight. I don’t always carry a light in this but it’s an option. When I don’t carry a light in this it’s replaced by a victorinox classic, which floats around but I always have it on me. Also just got this neat little SERE compass from countycomm.

Something about the coloration of the organizer and brass just seems to fit well.

Paying me back for introducing you to the gatura I see 😁

I saw this and instantly knew I had to try one.
I like the gatura, but lately in my shorts pockets it has been turning sideways and bugging me.
This thing looks almost inch longer which should help keep it upright.

Plus being American made is a bonus, and it looks good too.

The gatura is still excellent, but it’s just more bulky. Better suited for cargo pockets than front pockets.

It is still well made for sure, the design is not the best though.
For me right off the bat I had to use it backwards from how it's intended.
The real issue with it though is the large zipper and very bulky fold area.

It does do some things this doesn't though.

This one seems like it should get the most important things right though.

The leather ones like that look nice and are certainly slimmer.
I made something I carried a good while a couple years ago, but my carry grew out of it before I could try a nice professionally made example.

Maybe one day I'll cut back to a point something like that can work for me and I'll try one.

I can only recommend to downsize, at least for me, even this sometimes feels like overkill. :)

I don't carry too much, I like to carry about all my little pocket things in my organizer.
Things most people would carry on their keys as intended.

I have three sizes of maxpedition organizers. A micro, a small and an edc version. At work I use the small with various tools I’ll change out depending on what I’m working with but usually have a Microstream usb flashlight, LM multi tool bit kit and extension, pen and pencil, note pad, nail clippers, 10 feet paracord, a couple gate clips, spare short usb cable, keys, small utility blade, band aids, anti septic, spare aaa batteries, zip ties, bic lighter, and 8ft tape measure. I have space if I need anything else and the outside pocket is available for extra tools.

when I’m traveling I use the micro size with fewer and different tools but still have basic edc stuff like pencil note pad and band aids. The edc size I use when camping, fishing and hunting with appropriate items for the activities. But with more first aid stuff.

In the frontier days they would have a possibles bag with a lot more different stuff in it that many of us wouldn’t want to lug around. Besides their firearms, powder, bullets, knives and water canteen carried separately they had essential items in a possibles bag for making a fire, some medicine, jerky, nuts, maybe a sewing needle and thread. I’m sure they had their own set up depending on what and where they went to do but still had a bag with essential items to survive in the wilderness.

My great, great grandfather had a shoulder slung leather bag with a telescope and other essential items that weighed around five pounds and it didn’t leave his side when out and about. Plus his rifle, hand gun, knives, ammo, and canteen when on foot. Otherwise it was packed on a horse or wagon. I don’t know if I could do that now at almost age 62 but he did till his late sixties. Tough and tenacious he was. Someone in our family has it now in safe keeping along with a few items that were in it when he passed. My brother has his 1873 Winchester in his gun safe but I don’t know who or where the other things went to.

I should have my pocket pico in a couple days, but I just realized something I may not be thrilled with.
That tag is on the wrong side, yes that's right I'm going to be unhappy about the tag.

The main 3 should be in the front so so they're easier to draw without taking the organizer out of your pocket 1000% a dealbreaker if I can't ), and I will technically have to carry it backwards in order to use it and knowing that will bug me.

I'm sure I'll be pretty happy with it overall based on everything I know , but I can certainly think of a good way to improve it.
They should put the zipper for that pocket on the top, and a dual sided logo tag on the side so you can have whichever side you want as the front.

Maybe if I like it I'll eventually contact them and see if they'll make me one with a logo on the proper front or something.

My yellow birch pocket pico arrived at the post office early enough that with any luck it'll be waiting for me in my box when I get off work in a couple hours.

Going minimalistic.
I really like how this organizer doesn't have lots of dead space that you might be tempted to fill.
I could add more, but I don't feel like theres really a bunch of space I need to utilize.

In the " front " is my knife of the week pen and little multitool.

In the middle is just my notepad some bandages, and a 24" tape.

The tape is just a 1/4×24 nylon tape from a freebie keychain tape measure , folded up and stuffed inside a piece of clear milkshake straw.

It's less convenient than my little 24" steel keychain tape, but I use it just enough to need and not enough that the convenience is worth the bulk.

In the back is just a Classic, spare key, spare mini gate clip, and sd card.

So for those with a larger more full organizanizer like a maxpedition ( mine went in my pocket) are you organizing the contents of your pocket, or are you using it to carry pocket sized items in a backpack or something?

For me the things I carry have been chosen for how small and pocketable they are, because I want them on me for convenience.

Maxpedition, even the micro, usually goes in a backpack/coat pocket, unless I wear cargo pants. If it is full or larger size it definitely goes in a bag.

The one pictured is used for stuff I MIGHT need, but don’t want to add to the junk I already carry in my pockets. Spare batteries, extra light, lighter, pen and pad, etc., go in that little organizer and I throw it in the glovebox when we go on short road trips. I have a larger Maxpedition with even more “junk” for longer trips.
