Pocket organizers and pocket organizer setups

I haven't made too many changes since getting my pocket pico back in June.

I swapped the Sebertool m4 for an m2, and the Vic classic for a jetsetter to give me the scissors and tweezers without the redundant blade.

I was carrying the trusty old MAC AW4 in my watch pocket to keep the organizer slim, but I realized It will fit without adding any noticeable bulk so that's where it lives now.

I went back to a perma pic and didn't need the inferior little Vic toothpick anymore, so I used a piece of windshield wiper insert to make a splinter pick that takes it's place.

It works very well , and honestly without a pick I see no point in even having tweezers.

Countycomm accidentally sent me one of their 3" flat widgy bars this week instead of what I ordered ( they took care of it today , great service ) so I decided to add it to the organizer because lately I seem to be needing a little pry tool.

Basically the only 2 additions would be the permapic and the pry bar since the wrench was already on me.

I recently got this one from Badger Claw Outfitters. Waxed canvas. I like.

I like that pico quite a bit and that one from badger claw looks really nice and without the flap, not too bulky either. I know i would feel compelled to fill in that space with more stuff though.
This has been mine for about 5 years now. Thin sheet of leather from craft store, sewn together with a SAK and an inner string from 550 cord. Currently filled with copper side click pen, 125mm knipex, bic, tinker deluxe, and a eagtac d3a. All accessable with one hand and and only have to take it out to put the pen back in.

Not neccessarily for the OP (looks like he found just what he was looking for) but anyone else looking at them. If youre interested in trying out different configurations, theyre pretty straightforward to make. Ive made a few different ones from duck canvas, leather and nylon. Some with more capacity and some with less than what i finally landed on. It also gives you the ability to customize the setup and once youve found it, you can look for something like it in a nicer quality from a maker or company

That works.

I made something along those lines a few years ago that I used a good while, easy to make for sure.

It looks like they now have the V3 with the zipper pocket in a vertical orientation which I like the idea of.

I may have to think about trying one out, possibly even go through their custom shop and see if they'll move the tag to the front.
I might also see if they'd consider sewing a little paracord loop onto the inside where I can clip in the spare key I carry, one on each side of that zipper pocket would be nice if possible.

I sent an email and this is the response I got back.

" Yeah, I can certainly do that!

Just put it in the notes section during checkout and I’ll take care of it. "

I have no need to replace my V2, but I will be placing an order here soon.

I've always liked the idea of these "pocket" organizers, but I've never found them to be all that practical to actually carry.

In terms of EDC, it ends up being something I leave in the console or glovebox. I find them all slightly too big, and if I had to carry one it would just be a small vertical zipper pouch as above.

If the idea is to put a kit together or to be able carry all kinds of extra stuff then yes they can be less practical to keep on you and more suited to a backpack or in yoyr vehicle...ect.

For me and likely most people who do find them practical to keep in your pocket , generally the idea is using a pocket organizer to " organize " things you already carry.

The YBO pocket pico is a fairly small organizer BTW, about the size of a proper traditional bifold or trifold wallet.

All these other " micro " organizers on the market are way too big to be called that.

I decided to try adding a couple of loops to my pocket pico before I decide to order a custom V3 with them.

I didn't want to ruin it, so what I did was melted a couple of holes ( with a torch and nail) into the flap of excess material on the inside a attach the loops that way.

I just put the paracord through then melted and flattened the end out in a pair of pliers so it can't pull through.
If I don't like it they can be removed and you'd never know.

I just placed my custom order for a pockst pick v3.
It will be interesting to see what they do for me.

I specified the signature series color scheme, and a pair of roughly 1" long paracord loops hanging down inside the zipper pocket.
I asked for orange paracord if they've got it, or the standard coyote brown they use on the zipper pulls if not.

Wow that was pretty fast !
It only took the fine folks at YBO a week to complete and ship my custom order, I expected it to take much longer.

I just received the new V3 organizer from YBO, and it looks like I'll be sticking with my old V2.
The design with the rear zipper being vertical turns out to not be ideal for the things I carry in that rear zip pocket, and the far left slot where I put my pocket knife is too deep for a Buck 305.
I've got 6 different 305's in my rotation ,so that kind of kills it right there.

I'll give this organizer some thought, before I make my final decision but based on first impressions I believe my old v2 is still the one for me.

I did mess up a bit on my instructions for where I wanted the loops, I said " on each side " when I meant hanging down from the top on either side.

That's my mistake though, and they actually did exactly what I specified.

In this position they're less useful to me because they're not high enough to suspend the items I attach to them, but I would live with that if I really liked the design.
I've been experimenting with it, and It's looking more and more like the V2 is still the one for me.

Maybe I can use it as some kind of small tool kit for something

Well I never did end up carrying the V3 ( it's currently being given away on the porch ), a little over 3 years later and the YBO Pocket Pico Classic carry V2 has been absolutely excellent with no signs of being retired.
It's holding up great, aging well, and rarely is it ever uncomfortable in my pocket.20240826_095936.jpg

I'm using a YBO pocket organizer as well. One of the GEC dealers had a combo deal on GEC knife, so I grabbed it. Mine has the vertical zipper pocket and on the other side only two slash pockets. A single large pocket at the top. I can slip a DMC fixed blade in there or other small fixed blade. It's worked the best out of numerous others I have tried. Looks like mine is taller than yours.
