Pocket pat?

Yup. Not quite that often, but I'll slap the pockets before I leave the house to make sure I have knife, wallet, phone and keys.

I used to do it more when I first carried. Especially the more expensive ones. Now, not so much. Before leaving every morning though for sure. My phone gets left at home quite a bit. The knife, almost never. :D

I normally check after I have been sitting a while, just in case something wiggled free.

Yeah, after I get out of the truck, leaving the house, leaving a cafe, usually pat all my pockets to see if all is in place. Then check my wife for the expected eye roll. Lol.

Yep, like many here I do a pocket pat-down several times a day. Before leaving the house, before leaving work, ect.

I do purposely when exiting any vehicle, since I have found my knives hanging on the shoulder-belt....

I have tried to train myself not to pat my firearm, and I also then mentally note not to do the same to my knife, except as I said, in the one location that I know that I have seen them plucked from my pocket.

Nice thing about the weather? My hands are always in my pockets. I get to fiddle with my doodads as much as I want.

That's so funny, guess I didn't think others did it.
I actually do a "phone", "wallet", "keys", "knife" check every time I leave the house,, all with taps

"Spectacles, Testicles, Wallet, and Watch" is a mnemonic for how to properly make the Catholic sign of the cross; I modified it and replaced watch with 'keys'. I use testicles as the low pat to check for Phone and Knife.

Leaving home in the morning, leaving work, getting out of the truck, leaving a restaurant... the self pat-down is a habit now.

Spectacles, testicles, wallet and keys.

Me too, but mine is keys, knife, wallet and phone. Of course, all are with taps. It drives my wife nuts.

One time she ask me why I always carry a blade when I leave the house. My response was to tell her that I did not want to be a sheep. That became a discussion about how all people can be classed as wolves, sheep or sheep dogs.

Guilty as charged... I pat myself down a few times a day... Once a year or so I discover that I actually forgot something.

I'm not saying I don't do a pocket check when leaving places, but that's about it, and I don't generally do it with taps/pats.

Ever hear a pickpocket announcement at a train/subway station? Those are tremendously helpful—to pickpockets. Everyone automatically taps the location of their wallet.

Heck yeah. Pat both front pockets for wallet and phone then thumb flick the top of the right front pocket to check for clipped knife and key dangler. Seems ODC but just yesterday while doing this I discovered that the pocket clip on my Spyderco Dragonfly had come loose and was about to pop off -- validation for years and years of pocket patting!

"Wallet? Check. Keys? Check. Knife? Check. Phone? Check. Now where the hell did I leave my rifle?":D
