Pocket Saw VS Chopper

I would say choppers are more dangerous than a true axe, and less dangerous than a hatchet. And frankly, I don't ever see myself carrying a true axe any significant distance without a vehicle being involved :D

A 19" axe is a far cry from a "true axe", and only a bit longer than a hatchet (5" say?), and is exponentially safer than a chopper. I'd still say a hatchet is a lot safer than a chopper, even though the edge is close enough to put you in harms way it still has the advantage of better balance for chopping and the ability to use two hands if you need to put some power into it.

In the true manner of a debutante fluttering about in my opinion, I do have to say that one of my favorite saws is the full size take down buck saw called the trailblazer. It packs in its own tube, later used as the handle, has a full spring tension blade just like a normal buck saw and works every bit as good as a buck saw. Great for ripping through 4-5" chunks of wood.

I keep forgetting that I usually have one of these things tucked away in my truck.

Saw wins every time when bushing.

I love knives, and I love big chopper knives. Big chopper knives are great for all sorts of stuff, and get the job done in style.

Big choppers also leave a greater imprint. When you come across other people wearing or using a chopper, at least here it can raise questions. Not to mention the wood chips and likely greenish saplings sliced off 2/3 down..... just my experience.

My brother tried to convert me to the saw years ago, he calls it ninja camping. Recently things changed. Its way faster for anything an axe shouldn't do, and the imprint it leaves is very small. Hardwood sawed off at the base is not nearly as ugly as a chopped up tree. If you havn't tried it, you should. Take the chopper or the machete too, that shit is great fun, and you can clean up with the saw.
