Pocket-sized tank

OP should be more specific, fixed blades are naturally more suited as hard use knives. A price range also helps, noticing people's suggestions go anywhere from a $50 knife to $500 knife. ;)

I feel confident with my CQC-7A and my Buck Waimea.

Although it is a red class my Benchmade Vex is really earning my trust. For a $50 knife this thing is like a tank! Also, Ive only had my s60v blur for a day but this thing feels like it could definately withstand some hard use.

Wow, that looks like you could open a tank with that thing without taking any damage...
Edit: Oh, yes RAT advertises their knives nearly as indestructable. So Izula might be worth of consideration.

I speak from first-hand experience when I say that the Izula is a beast. That little knife can take just about anything you throw at it. Definitely my first choice for a hard-use knife.

What knife do you trust to hold up to hard-use jobs with a blade under 3"?
Looking at my Leatherman PST (the one I'm carrying today), I can't see any way that it would fail unless I used it to pry side-to-side with the blade.
And since I have srewdrivers on the PST, there's no reason to use the blade to pry.

So I guess I trust my Leatherman PST to hold up for hard use jobs.

I trust both my mini-grip and mini-7. Both are excellent knives and both are <3". The only problem I have had is the tip chipped on my mini-grip and concrete beats the edge on the mini-7.

Here's a couple shots of a Ranger custom EDC I used to have. It was a monster.

well a folding knife is instantly ruled out-my HEST and BK11, which are surrogates for folders, cost a fraction of what most quality folders do and there's only one working part to fail, not 20.
