Pocket Slips: Yay or Nay?

full

Meant to post this a while back. I use the pen way more than the knife.
I regret selling off my 78s, and the smooth white bone is the greatest looking knife to come out of GECs doors IMO.

I've really enjoyed carrying the Chambriard in a slip. I could see me doing more of that and now getting intrigued by belt sheaths as well.

:)

I liked them when I worked. Most of my day was spent at a desk and I hated stuffed pockets while sitting. The slip would lay on my desk, knife handy to fidget with or use but it didn't look like I had a knife on my desk. Now that I work from home the slip rarely gets used

Big yay from me. I like to carry in a slip at work keeps the knife from banging around, and I feel some knives ride better in the pocket that way too. I didn’t like the clip on my small sebenza so took it off and carry that knife in a slip now

Yes, usually. The #1 reason is that it adds more heft, so I feel better about the knife not falling out of my pocket without me noticing (rfp carry). Not too concerned about other factors mentioned. Occasionally wrap in a bandana or use coin pocket, which also houses tums and lip balm, regularly carried too.

L-R:

GEC 15 w/ KSF slip. This slip has been worn in over years so conforms to many different knives.

Vic Cadet with a handmade slip made by a forum member. This slip was included with a knife purchased on the Exchange. It is much appreciated and become dedicated to Cadets.

Madison Barlow with the slip that came with it.

GEC 33 with a Collector Knives slip.

GEC 61 (2 blade) with large GEC slip. The small GEC slip is too small, IMO.

Lion Steel Shuffler with a KSF slip that came with something I purchased. Had it around and it fits well.

Note: Chris Reeve leather slip sheaths are also very nice.

Buckaroo/folding knife pouch all the way. This is my own personal one:

Thong back feeds onto your belt loop and ya put the rest in your pocket:

That way you can still get to it under your leggings by just pulling on the thong:

Squeeze the bottom and the knife pops out:

Leave your pouch dangling while you use your knife then tuck it all back together when you are done.

Case closed, (opps sorry for the completely intentional pun):

Is that your Moore Maker linerlock trapper? If so, how do you like it?

I am a big fan of pocket slip cases. My Wife makes some very simple ones out of thin leather, the kind of stuff you find in hobby shops but it work splendidly. It keeps my knives from getting beat up and if I was looking for rapid deployment I would be looking at something with a pocket clip and thumb stud, Assisted opening too!
