Pocket slips

I really like the way this one has been working for me the last couple of months. I keep my comb and knife in the same pocket, and even with a handkerchief, they tend to work themselves sideways. I made this, following the curve of most of my pants pockets, to keep everything upright and not bulky. A bonus that wasn't planned on my part was the center stitching allows the pocket slip to bend with the contour of my thigh even more, eliminating any bulk. I have used, this with small knives such as peanuts all the way up to my 4 1/2" Laguiole. Working on modifications to somehow encompass an area for my little Fenix light. We'll see. Matt

I've dropped my Dr T Zulu with red bone scales twice now on a concrete floor. I think it's time to put one of the Collector Knives slips I have to good use.

Ok, while not fancy like all the leather pro's around here, these are a couple that I have made (only ones I have pics of right now). One for a knife, and one for a magazine.

bflying, you might not think it's "fancy", but I think it's EXACTLY the type of pocket slip I'd like to make! Pocket slip perfection!!:thumbup:

That is definitely very nice work. I tried making something similar, but didn't cut the bottom corners symmetrically. Even if I did, it wouldn't have looked as nice.

A question regarding size...should this knife be sitting in a little deeper or is it OK like this?

Knife position inside the slip is just personal preference. The commercial made units are usually just set sizes S/M/L or less. Personally I like the knife to sit just below the top edge. Some may like otherwise. Protects the knife, while giving easy enough access without having to dig too deep. But I do have some that do sit low, and I have to squeeze and shake the knife out. When making them for yourself it's easy to customize for a specific knife. When buying you just have to stab at the closest size and enjoy. So yeah, your pic is the way I prefer to pair knife with slip.

I also trade them around sometimes. I bought a KSF exclusive that came with a slip that was way too big for the paired knife. I have a homemade slip that fit that knife perfectly. Then I brought in the Forum 2015 CSC knife that happened to fit recently acquired KSF slip perfectly.

What size fits the 2015 Forum Knife? I'd like to try that out if I decide to carry it. It's a beautiful design with great figured wood.

Made for me by a friend (William Lane) as a gift from another knife site it carries my 2015 CSC/BFC/SFO Serpentine Shadow Jack and my recently acquired Lone Wolf/Loveless Wharncliffe City Knife.

Always carry my traditionals in one. This was made by a friend of mine locally.

Nice shot of the grain on that micarta Aaron

Here's my current favourite made by a maker off Facebook. Scheetz Slips. The Double pouch really helps center my light and knife in the pocket.

Very nice. You take high quality photographs also. I was experimenting today with a slip for a small fixed blade I made. I wanted it as thin as possible so I didn't put in a welt and used rivets (as well as glue and thread). I think I will stick to sewing and put in a welt.
