Pointless thread - just some bad pics of my afternoon's light chopping

No worries, Tim. Jerry's not thin-skinned about blade competition--he practically invented it. (well...the "modern" version) :D

Browning Crowell/Barker 580 Competition Chopper.

This one was re-handled and re-profiled with a thinner edge by Bark River Knives.

Hey Tim, this is a great thread of user shots.
Isn't it fun to make threads like this?

No worries on comparing stuff. That Bladesport chopper kinda reminds me of an FBM LE with a thinner edge and the front 2 inches squared off.
I have thought about sending in an NMFBM to have it flat ground & thinned to .23-.25 so it would lose some weight and chop even better, but that would just make it a fancy handled B11, so I have decided against it for cost reasons.

That cable saw is a hard one to use in my experience, but it makes a decent emergency snare and cuts through soft but thick green branches pretty well. The chain version is much nicer.

Hey Tim

Yeah it is fun but the kudos go to my wife for the awesome job she did on the videos. She held that little Blackberry cell-phone so still it looked like it was on a tripod, even when wood chips were hitting her in the face and two boisterous pups were running into her, she did not flinch.

On that note, I was just reading TNT's thread about "Conclusive-signs-you-married-a-Hog", and the "following your husband around with a camera" one made me smile.

Thanks, your post made me decide to take the FBMLE out for some fun today.

I want to stress that I mean no disrespect to Busse when I post anything about non-Bussekin knives in this forum. With the exception of an odd post in other places I post almost exclusively in the Busse forum because this is where I feel most at home within the larger BF community. Bussekin constitutes the vast majority of my collection and will continue to grow more than any other.

I wasn't talkin bout you, I was talking about me wanting the 171.... anyway until I can get one I love reading your reviews and seeing the chopping videos

Yes, apologies, I realized you were talking about you, not me. My post was not a response to yours, I was just opportunistic and used your phrase as a lead-in to my post as I had the same concern even before your post. Sorry for the confusion.

I have been doing a lot of chopping the last few weeks to test my knives and I took a few videos today, mostly for my own records, but some of you may find them informative. Apologies, they are not good quality. They were unplanned and shot with a Blackberry and an iPhone (at dusk) by my son.

I shot a few more but they are hard to watch because I struggled a lot today with the knives getting stuck in the dry wood.

I will use my HD camera and shoot a few better quality videos in the next few days.

Here is one with the B11 Asym, FBMLE and Becker BK9.

And another with the B11 Asym
