Police 3

The Police 3 is really cool. I hope they will still keep the regular stainless model as well though, because it's a classic.

I think it's also worth pointing out that the Police 3 isn't just some random amount longer than the previous one, the edge length is exactly four inches [...]

Theoretically that could keep it legal in a lot of places if you count edge length rather than how much steel sticks out of the handle.

I wouldn't want to be the test case. How much steel sticks out of the handle is "stabbing depth" and makes a tempting standard for the law. NYC law for example insists on a blade length under 4" so pushing that limit will not work there, and others who allow 4" won't like the least bit over.

I believe AKTI has been selling legislatures on tip to bolster as the definition of blade length, to get away from definitions that measure along the curve. This may not matter to Canadians, but we have a lot of complexity with our local options, and any standardization of definitions helps. Testing the law's patience does not.

Joshua J, you are exactly right on the refinements. One of the reasons that I picked the new model was due to the upgrades especially the thicker tips. It got the nod over the great milli, for duty. I am looking forward to getting them (one plain and one serrated) in hand this week and going to work! Take care all and God Bless!
