Police 4

It's been in pre-sale for awhile.
I'm interested in the K390 steel, but I think it is more appropriate in a fixed blade, due to its toughness.

I'm really looking forward to the Police 4. Has Spyderco given a projected date of release yet?

The blade profile really reminds me of a Military. I'm very happy with the slight redesign and look forward to it's release. A SS Police was my very first Spyderco some 30 years ago.

Me too. Carried mine EDC 1987-1992.

I'll buy one, if for no other reason than to help Mr. Sal expand his stable of racing yachts.

I designed the Police 4 for me. It's a little big for legal carry in many places, but it's what I would like to carry everywhere. I re-profiled the proto down to about 20 degrees incl. Big enough for food prep, works well out in the bush where I live.

Sounds good. I like it much better than the old one. If possible could you go into some of the reasoning behind the choice of that blade steel?

My only wish is that it was in a more corrosion resistant steel. This in CTS204p would have been amazing and would've answered many peoples wishes for a Military type knife with a strong back lock. Any chance of a run with different steel down the track Sal?

1. I like the steel for using. Takes a good edge, tough, abrasive resistant.
2. We were trying to get one of our Seki makers to use non Japanese steels. I wanted to use something from Bohler-Uddeholm.

Certainly a possibility. While we don't have production yet, the proto's looked good and I have confidence they can work with any steel.

Sal, you said you designed the knife for yourself. Sure looks like it was designed specifically for me. Probably just a typo. Anyway, thanks.

That's great news mate, in a new steel it would be an instant buy for me and thanks for replying.

Thank you for your participation Sal. I appreciate your input on these things.
