I sanded the black clip on my new Captain per the instructions, although I only went up to 600 sandpaper, which for the matte finish I wanted worked perfectly. Here is the knife pre-modification.

The clip still black.

The clip after sanding. Started with 320 and finished with 600.

A few pics of the finished product. Also moved the clip to the tip down carry position.

I love the way this looks. Thanks for the great, simple tip! :D

If you have access to a sandblaster its much easier....then you can not polish and it has a cool flat metal look to it or polish it up with 1500 grit.

Hey isnt that knife made in japan?

My statement in the other thread was that I will no longer be purchasing anymore foreign Spyderco's and I would suggest you do the same.

Yes, in the past I have purchased foreign knives, but times have changed, and I will no longer support this type of outsourcing. Too many of my friends and family have lost their jobs because Americans have become complacent and content with the exploitation of cheap labor.

So unless you like seeing Taiwan and China on your favorite Spyderco's, I suggest you follow my advice.

Sal has already made it clear that Spyderco is trying to build up their American plant, and I applaud that. I will be the first one in line to buy new American Spydies when they are released.

Until then my money is staying in the United Sates.

You must have a lot more money than me then 5.56.

I'm as pro buying American as anyone else, But good stuff is being made in other countries by people who aren't being exploited too. (not saying that exploitation of cheap labor doesn't happen, but from quality people like Sal, I doubt he would allow things with the spyderco name on them to come from factories that exploit their workers). Yes the American economy is in a slump. But people not buying American is one of the smaller problems in the grand scheme of why we are in this recession.
