LOL,I know everyone has their favorite polish.Mine is Simichrome.I used it back in the late 60s on my chopper.I've used a bunch of other brands since then because I couldn't find it anywhere in El Paso which is the closes city to where I live.On a recent trip to California I found some Simichrome and scored the last two tubes they had in stock,it don't take much of this stuff to turn a pig with lipstick
into a beauty queen so two tubes will last for years.I have some Dremel polishing compound that I've never used and will experiment with it down the road.I know I'm opening a can of worms here:eek:but thought it would be fun for my brother Buck addicts to chime in on their favorite polish.I wonder what Buck uses but if they told us they would probably have to kill us:eek::D

Never Dull by Eagle One/Valvoline, whatever. Of course rouge works well too.

:thumbup:thats pretty good stuff!

I also have some wenol (Brasso) and Flitz works really good as well.

I like the nevr dull, it doesnt have any opaque residue or color and it comes presoaked on cotton ball material?

I think the Flitz works the best, but its a tad runny,

and the brasso (wenol) works really good too, but its a thicker more paste-like substance. :D

I like the ND cause it works and its ready to go at a moments notice. My wife hates it though cuz it bothers her sinuses and she yells at me every time I use it in the house.:(

All of us old bikers like Simichrome...good stuff!

+1:thumbup:Yes it does seem that way.:D Used it on my Triumph cases and turned that dull grey aluminum to look almost like chrome! Good for determining Bakelite too!

Mothers Metal polish is some good polish, and Flitz is supposedly a bit finer than Simichrome, but I haven't tried it.

Jim what type of Flitz are you using? I have it in a tube like tooth paste, and it is not runny. The liquid in a bottle is runny, I put it right on my rag instead of the knife. I like the paste better, it seems to do a better job. HL

Wheels, sisal and cloth buffs with approiate rouge works great . Doing it by hand works some too . DM

Well every Biker I know In California Uses Mothers Chrome Polish and Thats what I use on my knives and My Soft Tail.

Yeah, I have the bottle. I didnt realize they made a paste also. :o

The paste would be more user friendly ;)

Has anyone tried Dremel polishing compound? Also how does a Dremel tool work out for polishing&buffing work?

Ive never used a dremel PC but have tried with rouge when I had a very small job that ND didnt get out and found the little buffers get black and useless nearly immediately-it did do a nice polish while it lasted. You'd have to go through 8-10 of em to due a normally tarnished 110.

Those buffers are real tiny, thanks Fritz.:)

Good thread guys!

I just picked up a new 110 and it's making my 2year old unattneded EDC 110 look like death. I'll have to pick up some polish and get this one cleaned up.

How often do you guys clean up the brass? I'd like it always to look like knew but I feel i'd be doing it everyday.

I never clean what I carry for 2 reasons:1) I pocket carry everything and rubbin inside my pocket material cleans the brass well enough. 2) If you handle the knife, the moisture and oil from your hands will natrually start it discoloring from fresh burnish and it will drive you mad. Stored/display case knives get cleaned when I look at em and think they dont look good enough.

I polish my 2 Dot 110, EDC, once a week and the ones in storage as and when they need it. Frankly, I find the process of polishing and sharpening to be a calming process.

Where polish is concerned, I got sick of the smell of Brasso when I was in the army, so now I use Stanley Premium Polishing paste, which has little to no smell.

I agree with that, the stuff is almost like smelling salts! I've been using either Flitz or Mothers, but I think I'll get some Simichrome again. I used it years ago on the bikes, but haven't had any around in a long time.
