Buck has not been chosen as the manufacturer of the 2018 BF Traditional Knife, but in order to choose between Buck and GEC, we need a preferred model chosen to vote on.

So, battle it out and choose the best Buck option. You will be able to change your vote if someone sways you. Poll will be open until Friday 4/27/18.

Remember, this is choosing a Buck model to be voted on against a GEC model. I've included the "cost" of each as a base model. Just out of the gate, you can see which options will more expensive. This does not include steel choices or scales.

Would we be able to get a comparison pic of them all lined up?

In order as they appear up top would help immensely. Possibly with handle tip/ricassos lined up with the 4" mark of a ruler on the top or bottom?

This would give a quick show of each knife, with an impromptu measurement of blade and handle. I know this sounds like a lot, but it is just the 7 knives and a ruler.
Plus, who doesn't like taking pics of knives?

Woohoo, we finally get to nail down what we might choose versus a hypothetical GEC we have no way to order ;)

But seriously, this is my favorite part of the process, and getting to vote on how to make a possible knife something really special and specific to the forum is something I really love. Regardless of how this all shakes out, I am excited to get to vote on some real options.

Thank you for all the effort you've put in to get us to this point, skblades skblades !

I went with the 303, primarily for its better pocketability. Could potentially go with the 301, but it would be less likely to get as much pocket time.

A picture would be nice for perspective. I honestly have no idea the difference between a 301 and a 503. The only ones I recognize is the 110 and 112. You see I'm not a big Buck owner. I believe I own 3 Buck knives; two 110's, and a Cabelas 192.

Awesome. Thank you! I will likely go with 301, but I need to study up more on the models I'm less familiar with - which is basically all the ones that start with "5".:)

I went with 501. But, I wouldn’t be disappointed with a 303. The 501 is one of my favorites though.

I do agree pics would help those not familiar with model numbers.

Thanks skblades skblades for doing what you do

Excellent! Something concrete to participate in.

I voted for the model that may be the least popular but it is among the ones I most familiar with. At first I wanted to vote the 110 but I fear that may be much larger than folks would want to deal with so why not its little brother, the 112? Still a sizable knife though...
  • I would prefer a Drop Point Blade.
  • I think the Tang Stamp is important to this tradition so nothing more difficult to work with than CPM-154 in regards to steel.
  • No other embellishments like etching, engraving, medallions, etc. Keep it simple, the tang stamp is enough.
  • I think Elk or Ironwood would look exceptional, especially with Nickel bolsters and pins.
A couple of pics I pulled off of their Custom Shop. No Drop point option there currently though.

Of those listed, I am only familiar with the 300 series and the 110. I've never handled any of the others.
I voted for the 301, but would be just as happy with a 110. :)

The photo is hugely helpful. Thank you, and thanks for all the work you've put into this venture so far.

The only Buck knives I have are a 303 that I inherited after my grandfather died and a 505, 506 and 526 that I got as part of an auction of a group of knives that are a bit small for me for carry. I'm not a big stockman fan and I loves me some back locks, so I voted for the 501, but I think I'd be equally happy with the 503 or 55, and would consider the 112 depending on the price. Shoot, the stockman might not be my favorite pattern, but I'd probably go for either of those just to have something special to carry now and then akin to what my grandfather carried.

Oh man, seeing that 501 makes me think I might need to change my vote from the 301... I won't right now, but that looks like a very pocketable lockback in a useful size...
I haven't voted yet, but that photo made me notice the 501 as well. This will be a tough choice...

I wish money wasn't a factor. I'd take the 532 all day long.
I think I saw the one with copper bolster, etc somewhere and had to mop up the drool. The price tag quickly snapped me out of it....too bad:(

I changed my vote from 303 to 301. I already own a Case Bose Cattle Knife and carry it often so a smaller high quality stockman would be a neat addition to my knife family.

Great idea!

Great picture, very helpful. I'm thinking 501, but haven't voted yet.
