Would you be able to pay a week later? If you're sure you can do it, and Nathan and Jo were OK with it, I'd deposit for a third and you can pay me back the next week and take the slot.

I’m another who’s in this camp… kind of feel guilty now that I’ve started calculating in my head how I could make it work. That 50% down thing “helped”… but not in a way where I am being responsible.

Thank you. That’s a good idea. I can certainly do it next week. If it didn’t take days for checks to clear I could do it today but the deposits I make today won’t be available til Monday probably. So I’m going to see what I can do. Does the preorder start today at 5?

5 p.m. Eastern, yes. If you want to do that, can you reach out to Jo and verify that she is OK with it? I would say the way it would work is: Jo the Machinist Jo the Machinist confirms for us that she is OK if I claim three (two for me and one for you) since there is currently a two-per-person limit, and then when the preorder ends and she invoices, I will cover the $750 deposit for you if your checks have not cleared yet. If they have you can just pay yourself. If I cover for you, then when your money clears, you can just send me $750 by PayPal F&F and we will be even. If everything implodes, then it will not be the end of the world from my end because then I'll have three slots, and I'm sure someone else will want it if you can't.

Just a heads up on how past preorders have gone:

Nathan said that the preorder will be a hard limit of 100 units, because he's already ordered the steel for it, and won't be ordering more.

He also said he'd probably keep the preorder open for a week, because he didn't think there'd be much demand for this particular item 🤣

In any case, the way it's USUALLY gone in the past, if the preorder was open for a week, the invoices would generally go out the Monday after it closed, which would be 6/20.

As it is, I don't really see the 100 lasting longer than this weekend (frankly, it would surprise me if they aren't all spoken for today), but even so, Jo would send out the invoices on Monday 6/13.

They're also pretty flexible with folks paying up on the invoices. It's not exactly like a, "You have 60 minutes to pay this invoice or lose your spot", so realistically, if you can make the 50% downpayment next week, you're fine.

I will try to touch base sooner to get numbers, but invoice will go out next week. We have a full weekend planned in addition to the 2 sales. Thanks!!!
 
Nathan the Machinist Nathan the Machinist does the 50% preorder count just the base price, or does the do-not-select-popsicle-sticks option (if chosen) and shipping also count? I.e. bad-idea-particle-board option would be net deposit of $937.50 and the regular would be $767.50?

Can we also confirm - the preorder thread says deposit is nonrefundable, but you also said if the project gets scrapped that the deposits would be refunded, and that deposits could be refunded on request if delivery exceeds 2 years. Not sure if it being nonrefundable is a change or if it's nonrefundable* with those two exceptions.

Also wondering about balance changes with the wood and whether the popsicle sticks will be durable enough for the guard portion of the scales.
