the whiney customers ought to be ashamed.

it was the perfect finish for a user/beater Busse.

less work for the Company, less work for the owner (no more Strip/etc), less expensive for everyone.

how anyone could screw up such a mutually beneficial combination is absurd.

I hope they bring it back, even with a waiver or some such.

A clarification of the finish was needed. In no way will this affect my future Busse purchases.

They could do what most German car manufacturers do and charge more for the CF...

I voted yes.
Jerry knows what he's doing, and I don't blame him for not wanting the hassle he described..

I love my competition finished TGLB, it really blows my mind that people were fussing over tool marks on a raw finish. I love the tool marks, or the few faint ones I see, makes me want to use it even more. I personally work in a CNC machine shop, and I can relate to what Jerry is saying though, and I completely understand his decision. If someone is concerned about tool marks, it seems that they are probably not interested in using the knife too much, so why not just get the knife in a satin finish from the custom shop? On the other hand, with the current increase in price on the TGLB, and the discontinued competition finish, my first Busse is rapidly increasing in value, yay!

Hell no

all busse knives should be either satin or cf with coating as an option

It can't. Too many other people exiting.

LOL, I don't see anyone leaving. Too funny that someone is getting so bent out of shape because a decision was made by the manufacturer to not offer a specific finish any more. Grow up.

I'm not bent out of shape. I've got my CF blades. I know I'm the only one saying it but you seriously don't think anyone else will stick to SYKCO or SR since the CF is gone?

No, but they should rename/explain it better to limit customer complaints. With that said, I can absolutely understand why they would discontinue it.

I guess this is just another thing to add to the ever growing list we the people will have to do without because of whiners. It sucks but I'm sure it won't be the last thing. It looks like the $50 price increase would counter this problem. (But what do I know?)

In one week Ive seen beer, milk and now Busse's go up in price. I hate inflation.

Damn, now I'm whining.

I strongly support continuation of the comp finish. Personally, I dislike painted blades; it somehow it spoils the feel of a knife not to be able to see and contact the steel (personal thing I know many love the colored blades).
1. One of the prime advantages of infi is that it has the strength of a tool steel with the corrosion resistance (nearly) of a stainless; it does not need to be coated like many other steels.
2. If like me, you are not a fan of painted blades, many models like the AA are not available in a satin even if you don't mind paying the extra cost, but a competition is easy, they just don't polish (satin) or paint the thing and ship it out.
3. While I love the satins, sometimes it seem a shame to pay the extra and make Beef waste several hours of his life polishing a knife that I am going to immediately beat and scar back into a "competition finish"
4. While I can totally understand Jerry's frustration and business concerns, I echo what others have already noted, it should be easy to contain this problem, check box on the order form, phone order only, heck even a busse forum member only option.
5. Frustrating that Busse will let a few idiots spoil this cool option for his loyal fan base. I will say however, his commitment to his warranty is impressive; it seems that he has made an effort to improve competition scars for customers who are clearly in the wrong.

I voted no, but my best thought is that the competition finish should be available only by request. I guess that could be just as much a communications hassle, but offering it on the website means that random people with no clue what's going on may order knives with the option, where if something has to be requested you're pretty much guaranteed that those requesting it know exactly what it is. Maybe we could even have a secret pass-phrase known only to those who have been thoroughly tested on their knowledge and understanding of it.
