I like it, but being a carpenter you know when you do less than your best effort you open yourself up to criticism your don't want or welcome. I've heard about people who ask a fellow carpenters to do a job and that price is the number one consideration so please cut corners to keep the price down then only to have them come back and pick there work apart and tell everyone how poor a job they did. I am glad I learned from there mistakes of getting caught in such a predicament. I could see showing a comp finish knife to someone who doesn't understand what the process is and saying "You paid $330 for a knife unfinished like that!" With satin, DCBB or coated finish there are no unintended expectations of what you will get.

Because 80% of customers must be wrong?

You're looking at two different points. Jerry didn't discontinue CF because he thought the majority of people dislike it and it's being shelved because of a lack of popularity. Then your statement might make sense. As he mentioned, it's a business decision based on some (a bunch?) of people ordering it and returning it. It got to be expensive and had other costs.

I like the CF, and not so much the coated blades, so I am bummed to see if go. But there's obviously more to it than "Do you like me? Check yes or no."

Me - i'm not into coated blades, just don't like it.. :\

I think CF need to be a "finish option" when one order\buy a knife.

Explain at the website that this is a "raw" finish and one should expect to see some tool marks on the blade...

This is the Busse magic :D

I just don't understand the issue here. It's so easy to strip the coating. Plus then you keep the coating under the scales for rust prevention. I mean really people……..just go get yourselves some stripper. Any time there is change, people will complain. I love the comp finish but doing it myself is a non issue. A little spray can and 30 minutes later it's done. I see people saying they don't want to do it themselves but is that really worth 3 threads on the topic? I think if most of the people complaining actually tried it themselves, they would realize it's not an issue.

I think there should be a poll about whether or not there should be a poll about a clear business decision made by the man whom owns the company and whom had to make a decision because people either can't take time to read or don't quite understand what they do read.
After all he is the one whom bears the cost of returns, reworks and has his reputation at stake because of misperceptions of people whom couldn't understand just what the Comp Finish is after thorough explanation..... I think he made a good decision. You want a comp finish now, do it yourself or wait for the few releases where he does it. I hate to say it folks, but ya done this to yerselves.

I love my CF TGLB!

i've beat it on ironwood, mesquite, palo verde, snakes (over gravel), and barely a mark, and any marks that appear, look like they belong there ;)

Since i'm in AZ, and i wipe it down, no problem with corrosion.

I say, let people ask for it if they want it, it's just not doing something (coating), right?

But tell them it looks like a working knife if you order it that way.

Shutting this one down... thanks everyone for their votes and opinions!

LETS DRINK!!!
