"I use the steel for my knives that was designed to cut other steel."
Phill Hartsfield
:D

Ats34 is basically 154cm, slightly modified but not so much. Japan vs USA. So CPM154 = better because we are supporting a better steel and America, sort of.

I was just checking out some knives with I believe HXP blades. Seemed really nice, and very sharp.

I like cpm154.....great all around steel. I think the cpm154 actually is much stronger steel than we thought, imo. ;)

Regardless of what you poll says :) Let's ignore that s30v is ahead of cpm154.

Return customers for the ween.

OMG!!! S30V over CPM 154? At least vote for S35V over S30V. What has this thread become? Daniel i'll pay extra for CPM 154, please offer up-grades in blade steel : ) Thanks.

:D I am surprised too and there are a lot of votes! I'm 95% sure I will go with CPM154 for my stainless steel of choice.

I'll be offering a few models in stainless steel over the year, it really performs.

I dont think anyone is dissatisfied with Farids REX 121, it was just a royal pain in the arse to grind since its so hard!! I had Richard J put a convex edge on my Farid REX and even he was challenged I think! He did say that it was some pretty tough stuff! So many good steels! CPM154, CTS-XHP, S35VN, S30V, Love Elmax!! Not sure if 3V is stainless but one of my favorites! D2 rocks! I ve read a lot about the Strider guys really knowing their steels, and they have been using a ton of CPM154! Correct me if im wrong but the heat treatment I believe is vital to a good outcome! You can take a killer steel and screw up the heat treat and its garbage. Im sure im forgetting a few good ones but its late and Im tired!

You can take a piece of steel, heat treat it and cut the rest of the same steel with it. HT is key!

I don't play when it comes to heat treat, I have two kilns, three quenchant types, plates and more. I look up the manufacturers recommendations then work from there when heat treating. Each steel is different; for example D2 varies by maker.
