Actual use is normally food related. The Spyderco H-1 Spyderhawk did a beautiful job of peeling a very thick skinned orange earlier tonight.

I use my knives at work daily, often more than any of my other tools. It boggles my mind to think that most of the other guys I work with don't carry their own.

There's no option for all of the above. My Fiddleback Nessmuck covers them all!

Funny thing is you could have substituted my WIFE for those questions, and I would have answered all of the above to both questionaires. Except for the "sharpening" part.;)

A simple answer would be 'all of the above'.

I have a lot of knives, but not every knife is used for all the reasons listed.

There is no way I am going to take an $800 handmade Japanese Yanagiba out camping. ;)

I didn't vote because there is no "all of the above" choice. To pick just one would be inaccurate for me.

What no 'sleep with' category ? weirdness....

i do that do with my vic cadet (haha)

i carry a vic cadet, soddie, or other slipjoint. Most of the task they see are opening packeges, whittling, or cleaning finger nails. Also the screwdriver (on the vic cadet) saved my but on a fishing trip once.

I voted on the third choice but all the above and more would be my option. Whatever needs cutting all my friends know I am the knife guy.

Interesting poll! I voted Sharpening, fondling, oiling, flicking or otherwise playing with them[/], though kitchen and recreational use are very close behind.
