Poll: What folder would you bet your life on?

Given the situation that you have laid out, I
would have to bet my life on whatever I could get my hands on the fastest. My first reaction would be to grab my everyday carry
folder which is one that i made myself. My backup blade is a CARSON model 4 clip point
(large). Kit's blade used to be my main blade
until i got my own design done.

My Civilian, just because it's the scariest looking knife anyone could have designed. Or, my Sebenza, if I can ever get it off UPS long enough to use it...sigh.

I have a few that I would bet on.

1.REKAT pocket Hobbit.
2.CS Vaquero Grande.
3.CS Gunsite Voyager.
4.Spyderco Civilian.
5.Emerson Commander.

I trust all of these knives and most of all, my skill in using them.

Biohazard! There was a picture of it in spydeco forum some time ago. It's so scary that bad boys would start running immediately. If biohazard wuold not be available I'd take Civilian.

I would have my modified Crawford Kasper Fighting Folder. My KFF's blade has been modified with 1/2" additional unground edge at the pivot end to protect my fingers in the event of a lock failure.

With the deep finger groove, broad blade, and nicely designed straight clip point with a top false edge, the KFF makes one mean stabbing implement. The large belly also makes for effective slashing, but I would go to the point first.

One of these would be on me as primary (legal)carry: Crawford Carnivore, KFF, Synergy or Pinnacle.

Secondary carry: BF Native, REKAT Pioneer

If I were in California, first among the primary would be the SIFU!

For self defence: REKAT pocket hobbit. Nasty, nasty knife with bulletproof lock. Some assailants would look at it and run. The lock is very important; I do use but am not completely confident in liner locks. For utility purposes the liner lock is probably preferable. I might want a Lightfoot in that situation, although the emerson/BM CQ's are quite good for much less money.

This is a good thread!! I hate to carry my Civilian because I tend to want to use it and don't want to dull the serations! I could sharpen it but that would leave it no longer a "VIRGIN"
I just finished a neck sheath for my SIFU. Its a bit heavy for neck carry but I don't like carrying and exposed knife other than maybe the clip. A belt sheath is out of the question for me and the SIFU!! 99% of the time I wear tucked shirts so this would only work under a sweatshirt..I live in Fl!!!
So..... I would probably wind up grabbing for my AFCK or Styker, the knives I carry every day. This would be on a rare day that I didn't have the trusty Combat Commander tucked in my "fanny" pack!

Hands down my Carnivour. The blade deploys instantly, and the reverse grip allows me to use hands and feet freely. It would at least protect my slashing radius until I determined a path of retreat. The idiotic alpha-male part of my brain would probably want to stay and punish them for insulting my Carnivour with a screwdriver, but I'd overcome that and leave if I could.

IMHO only one person answered correctly. BM 710.

Well, an Axislock, or AFCK, depending on what I happened to be carrying. More likely, I'd have my .410 Derringer over under in my pocket, but that wasn't a choice.

I have more expensive knives, but for SD I carry a Cold Steel Large Vaquero. The lock is surprisingly secure. I have no doubt it will not fail me. That 5" serrated blade is a nice thing to have around when things get hairy.

Not long ago, I nearly had a confrontation. Somehow, when you are faced with very real possibility of physical harm, even that 5 inches seem inadequate.

Upon reflection, I rather have a good telescopic baton. But for a self defence folder, 5 inches is MINIMUM!

I`m with ya TMG! I`d much sooner have my 12" Trench Bowie (or better yet a 12ga.riot gun!) but my trusty Lg.Vaquero rides in my back pocket everyday for just such occasions. FWIW I`ve wacked the spine as hard as I can many times and I`ve never gotten the lock to fail, that`s good enough for me. Marcus

I don’t carry a knife as a self-defense consideration, just as a practical utility tool. I would hate to find myself in a situation where I would have to use deadly force, which is what you are resorting to when you pull a knife, even in self-defense. I do not consider it part of my criteria when choosing a knife, any more than I would consider the possible defensive capabilities of a hammer when choosing one.

I carry a CRK Sebenza. It is a versatile and reliable tool. But if I ran in to Mutt and Jeff, I would rather be carrying my old 16 oz. Eastwing.

Lots of great replies here!
I am really surprised to see so many Civilians as the "go to" blade. I didn't know they were this popular or even this widely available. Now I'm getting curious about this baby.
Lots of Benchmades too.

I carry a old BM 975, but if mutt and jeff was right there i probably won't be able to deploy a folder fast enough. I'm alittle slow.
