Poor craftsmanship from CKS

Less money??? I remember working for $1.10 minimum wage... In the 70's and 80's, I worked in a union shop for $9.50 an hour which was close to being top pay there and was good pay for the area...

We also had more respect for our Dad's not to call them "my old man"....

By less money I mean real dollars. At my company, due to automation and better work processes, our services cost our customers less money than in the past and our workers get paid more money...win/win for everyone due to "today's workforce."

The term "my old man" is a term of endearment in lots of places in the USA for both children and wives.

This seems to have gone in a different direction. I think this is the kind of stuff that gives forums a bad reputation. I will say i have seen people of ALL ages perform very well and very poorly at their jobs. Lumping an entire group of people together based on age for either positive or negative reasons is ignorant. It also has nothing to do with the knife in question. The number of factors that could lead to someone sending a product out with flaws are much greater and more complicated than just (kids these days dont work hard). To attemp to oversimplify to this degree almost indicates that maybe you dont put alot of effort into things (regardless of age).

I think jumping in the middle of a conversation and saying everyone that disagrees with you is "ignorant". I think that's an ignorant statement...

The original OP brought up the question of the quality of employees in today's workforce. There are alot of kids who have never been made to do anything. I blame society, parents can't instill discipline in their children because they are taught in school that all they have to do is call the police and they can have their parents arrested. I have seen it first hand with a neighbor...
When was the last time you saw a kid go out and mow yards for extra money without wanting 15$ an hour? How much does a babysitter charge nowadays?

Plus I'm speaking from real life experiences from all over this country doing different types of jobs.

Back to the original post, the OP needs to just send his knives back to Buck with a warranty repair form telling them what is wrong and I'm sure he will be pleased with the results.

Im not going down that rabbit hole. I stand by my post. Ill just let people decide for themselves. Not interested in starting a big debate with you. I dont think we are going to agree on this. I apolagize if i offended you.

Have you sent your knives back to Buck? Make sure you download the warranty repair form and give a detailed explanation of the problems with your knives and send them in, they'll take care of any issue...

Form is filled out but I have to take an afternoon off to send them in. Meanwhile I wish my custom 110 with ironwood handles would get mailed to me. My theory is the g-10 handles are difficult to work but not wood. I know you want to see it...

I checked my fox, orange G-10, it was fine...Was yours like the one posted earlier? It sagged around the medallion...

I made this thread to learn what others have done and their results when receiving a Custom Knife Shop knife that had issues. I wasn't sure how it would go but now I know.

The evidence is in the above posts. The behavior of some of you here in this forum is unbelievable without actually seeing it myself. Over a couple of custom shop knives?

About the value of a custom shop knife. Not any guarantee the craftsmanship will be excellent or even above the norm for a buck knife. So the custom shop is not the shop I was thinking it was. My suggestion is that Buck management open a new custom shop which does just what I was hoping for. Add 100 dollars to each knife, some new choices, and have only experienced craftsman build the knives. At that price, they shouldn't get overrun.

I do thank those posters who moderated their behavior. It's really not too bad here at the bottom of the Buck Sea.

The bottom line: You have a 2 out of 3 chance (4 knives out of 6) of receiving a flawless or near flawless knife from the Buck custom knife shop.

Nowhere in this thread have I exaggerated or fabricated an experience with my buck knives. Most are superb examples of craftsmanship.

Hateful posts go below.

You clearly stated your question: Anyone have good luck with sending CKS knives back? Very view actually answered that. Many were rude. Shame on us for allowing this.

There was an old Buck custom shop that did what I believe you are looking for. They no longer exist. You can still get that quality and the higher price you desire by watching the Collections/Limited Editions and the Collections/Buck of the Month pages on the Buck website. The "new" Buck custom shop is different. It allows you to customize a Buck knife and do it at a reasonable price. I believe the only way they can do this and sell enough to make a profit is by following up with great customer service if and when something goes wrong. And they do! Try to remember the competitive nature of this market and what you are getting for your money. At the end of the day, when the dust settles, you will have a great customized Buck knife.

I agree with op. I have some very expensive
Knives from Buck some of which I have opened the box to disappointment.
Little issues with the knife become a big issue after weeks of anticipation and it gets to you looking less than 100 percent.
I usually just get over it and don't send them back. Some I have cleaned and buffed out myself.
The fact that Buck makes it right is secondary to the issue . It should never happen and if it does they should cover the shipping both ways or offer a refund.

Working as a Foreman in a service department. I see quality issues all the time and you can't catch everything going out the door. Sometimes things just slip through the cracks.
Sucking it up and making it right is all you can do and hope your customer returns and doesn't bash your name along the way.

What I don't get is the resistance to provide pics.
If you don't have the ability just say so. No harm ,no foul. If just won't because you don't want to then why bother starting the thread.

Also his medallion comment was made because you cannot order the medallion in the custom shop.

People need to lighten up.
Someone rubs you the wrong way just move on.

I didn't want the thread to become about what was wrong with my knives. The handles are not right, just really sloppy work, the edges are over done on one and way not even, no texture on one. My 50 dollar standard 110 shows excellent craftsmanship, the two knives I'm returning do not. You know readers would look at the pictures and say there is nothing wrong.

Really, though, if my word isn't good enough, we have nothing to talk about. In a more friendly forum I think I would have posted pictures.

I also wanted to keep the details between Buck and myself.

I will probably post pictures when I get them back. I'm not always good with intimidation.
