Poor ZT warranty experience.....

Common to you or me perhaps, but unless the warranty department is also staffed by knife nuts, I doubt they would understand. Besides which, how shiny that edge is wouldn't really affect how sharp it is. Another possibility is that it is simply standard procedure. My job has taught me that your employers value your ability to follow directions rather than your own common sense, logic, reason, and all things rational. But perhaps my view is a bit jaded considering it takes me all of 5 minutes to put a mirror finish on an edge:thumbup:.

Man you just nailed it right there. That pretty much qualifies as a universal truth. :D

Putting a mirror finish on a knife takes a massive amount of work, seems to me that common sense dictates you don't mess it up on a 400 grit belt.

Why put a mirror finish on a knife with an off-center blade that you're very possibly going to send back for warranty work?

pillowhead9, why would you bring up a year old thread to ask a question that belongs in Maintenance, Tinkering and Embellishment? You are going o get people reading all this to answer your question. You don't even address it to the person you want, and he probably forgot the thread by now.
