Poormans anvil...Lets see em!

I like this config for a RR track anvil... it putt alot of mass under the striking face.

I was driving by a switch yard once and saw some guys replacing rails. I stopped and after some conversation and a $100 bill, I had 30ft of rail in the back of my truck that they had cut into 3 pieces.
 
i can find bits of rail track in my local junk yard. I pay about .25 per lb.

I tend to look for shapes other than rail, but have bought rail as well.
 
I have the fork off of a Yale forlift. Both of the mounting brackets broke off and the repair company was going to throw it in a dumpster. I flipped it upside down onto a log and presto. Sorry no pics my camera went for a swim.
 
I have seen folks using a large sledge hammer head tipped upright in a block of poured concrete before.
