Poppin' some caps with the King's help

The rear leg is just a piece of black iron pipe (threaded on one end) and it screws into a floor flange. The floor flange is the only thing I bought to make it. Everything else was scrap materials and a saw horse I had. I'll post a pic of the bottom and you'll see how simple it is.

Yes, that's a Savage and believe me, it's a shooter.

Savage makes a fine rifle :) love me mine.

what's that scope?

The scope is a Nikon. That's not my rifle. That's the one that dusted me. :D

Got a savage 17hmr with a bull berral that loves comps. Have a post on the kids and firearms thread about my 9 year old boy beating me in a comp this past hunting seaso. It was awesom!!

Very cool. Can't wait to do a .22 build. My buddy took a 10/22 put on a short, heavy barrel and every competition/tactical mod he could find. Cost him a 2 grand when he was done, but he figures the cost of ammo will make up for it over getting an actual AR, i dunno... Is that a Kimber Crimson trace in the holster btw?

I like that. This is the reticle I have on mine. Similar, but you have to do some paper punching to get your ranges.

that almost seems crazy, but what do i know? :)

so many 22 type things out there from actual .22LR to all the .223/5.56 and 5.7 and .22WMRs... plus some cousins...

i hear tell of a .17 CENTERFIRE cartridge, a thing they call hornet:

https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=.17 hornet

that might be a fun rifle to build out, though it probably will cost around the same (or more) than .223, so questionable?

oh, but it has one factor going for it, up to 4000 fps give or take :> nice :}

http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2011/11/savage-will-offer-model-25s-chambered-in-17-hornet/

the rifle should look familar :)

i'm actually intrigued by this thing. 17. centerfire.

price though... no idea! .22 hornet is about 68 cents PER ROUND. i might as well shoot .223 or even 5.7 :)

oh, yeah, this:

http://www.burrisoptics.com/laserscope.html

scope that out ;) it looks like Bushnell has a similar (exact?) offering for $100 less. THAT could be fun for long range shooting. has the range finder built in.

otherwise, you need a range finder of some kind to use these: and if they work for you ammo, then you're good to go...

course with these types: you do the testing, you do the math, and even then you still do the work, but it might be more versatile with a dope sheet.

there's this thing: https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=horus reticle which seems specialized, and requires math, or a PDA/software, but if you work it right, might be quite handy...

Wow that's a pretty penny. Did he just want a tack driver or a substitute for an AR?

I've heard good things about the S&W M&P 15-22 and you can get about 4 of them for $2k

Moose is a bastid. He's got me thinking .22 build. I durn near bought a 10/22 tonight just for the receiver.
I've been lurking on the Ruger forums, looking at Timney triggers, and so on. Bastid.

ETA: Bastid.

...Page 34 of the Testicle owners manual clearly states: "All men shall, at some point, own a 10/22 and a Becker BK2."

It's puber time Doc.

I've got four or five .22 rifles around here.
But admittedly, none of them are 10/22's.
