Heyho :D
So as some of you may know, I'm a CAD guy. I recently designed a knife for myself and it seems that I found a maker that agrees to building it.
But I still have one thing to decide on and it's a hard choice. The bladeshape
I originally designed it with a... I don't even know, maybe reverse tanto?

Which of course easily transforms to a sheepsfoot blade:

And because I also really like clip-points I mocked that up too:

Or if you like more belly on your clips(though that's not for me):

And in case someone is interested this is it with a spear, though that also isn't an option for me:

The whole knife in a more artistic display:

In case anyone is interested, the plan is an M4 blade and koa scales though both may not be sourceable. Weight should be between 40-50g, center of mass just shy of the index finger position in direction of the butt end. The plungegrind probably won't be a sweeping one in the final version and I'd like to see a trapezoidal pull but I still have to ask if that's possible.

I hope this kind of thread is ok, otherwise just (re)move it :D
Looking forward to your input and opinions :D

EDIT: Of course I messed up, the poll is missing the sheepsfoot

Well - it's your knife for your tastes, so I am not sure why our opinions are needed. However, my personal preferences would be your sheepsfoot version, with the first (less curved) clip a close second.

Looks like a modified Lambsfoot, I like it. Looks more useful than the clip and unless you’re planning on skinning game (and there are better knives for that) I think there’s more utility in the reverse tanto/lambsfoot blade plus a stronger point.

Impressive CAD skills.
I too would vote for Sheepsfoot, it's a very useful blade shape and the lines compliment your handle shape. But it's your knife and your choice.

Part of it is because I've been thinking about it since I designed it and can't seem to come to a conclusion; and I value the opinions of the people here. And the other part is that this way the chance for an massive oversight in the design is greatly minimized.

Well the maker will be an traditional maker from sheffield that does alot of lambsfoots so that's kinda fitting :D

I like the lambsfoot profile and the clip. I think the long pull on the clip looks weird at that angle and would be better set behind the swedge back toward the tang. Just my opinion, though.

I like the sheepsfoot best. But since you originally designed it with the reverse tanto, I'm guessing the reverse tanto is where your heart is.

Nice mock up designs! You are the final say, but since you are asking for opinions ... I have never liked Tanto blade shapes (or even reverse Tanto). I voted for clip. But sheepsfoot would also be fine. My opinion is "anything before Tanto". haha I don't know why, but they always make me think the tip of the knife has broken off.

Another vote for the sheepsfoot.

But if your choice is either clip or reverse tanto, I'd vote clip. I too like clip points with minimal belly.

That is an very attractive design SV, especially with the sheepsfoot blade. It will be really cool in checkered KOA. Best wishes on your project.

Interesting project and selections. But, since you are a Knifemaker, why is somebody else making it?

To be frank, that Tantoesque design just looks like a busted tip from prying :D

The others are more suitable particularly the tapering Lambsfoot.

Thanks, Will

Reminds me of a Mnandi or a 940!

Of course, why have one when you can have both!?
