Nice blade Danny! looks like you could chop an elephants legs off with it! What sort of Hamon & Hada has it? Photo would be nice to illustrate if possible.

it has a choji-gata hamon, but it is not as bright as the old sword.
perhaps a light polish is in order.
i have the nakago translated already.
i will give you the jist of it:
" this sword was commissioned as a temple sword, an offering to the gods to guard the descendants of a dying man."
The rest is prayer, names and dates of the swords' creation.

this is not unusual for an odachi.
It just happened to fall into the hands of a MA student who studies an art that employs really big swords, as well as small ones.
