Advice needed - possible fraud from Robert Humelbaugh

Hi guys. I have faced strange situation, which looks like a fraud, and need advise what to do (if anything can be done).

Briefly.
Somewhere here I ran into the info on custom sheaths from Robert Humelbaugh (http://www.survivalsheath.com).

On 31.08.2010 after short correspondence I placed an International order and Robert Humelbaugh charged my account for USD 210.00. Requested shipping method was Global Priority Mail. On 04.11.2010 after couple of my requests he informed me that (literally) "Shipped and on the way, USPS."

Normally it takes USPS Global Priority around 2 to 3 weeks to deliver shipment to my place. So far I have not got any shipment. From 25.11.2010 to 12.12.2010 I sent 4 requests to Robert Humelbaugh asking for exact shipping date and related USPS tracking number, but he has not answered yet.

So, I paid for the order, supplier informed that it was shipped, time passed and there is no shipment and supplier ignores all my info requests. Either shipment was sent to wrong address - then I can't get why the supplier doesn't answer my inquires, or the order has not been shipped out at all - and then it's a pure fraud from Robert Humelbaugh side.

Unfortunately I live far from the US and do not know related laws, procedures etc. Any advice what to and can anything be done at all?

Actually USD 210 is not the last money in the world and the case is a matter of a principle for me. If it IS a FRAUD - then I want that all Knife Community knows the HERO.

Thanks

A few years back I ordered several items from survival sheaths and began worrying when they were taking ages to arrive. The good news is they did eventually arrive, so be patient and don't go jumping the gun. Check your shipping costs he's probably using a cheaper slower one.

There was at one time a sub-forum for Survival Sheath Systems on bladeforums. If you go to The Good Bad and Ugly in the feedback area you will see many people have had problems with delivery from them. The sub-forum disappeared from BF I think in 10/09.Some do say that he will deliver it just takes a very long time but that was awhile ago who knows what the deal is now.As far as the Fraud goes if you used the US mail the US postal inspectors may be able to help.

Best of luck

He said he shipped already, and the method of shipment was specified by the buyer. If Robert H. used a cheaper method, then he overcharged for shipping and went against what was specifically requested.

Thanks for all replies.

Sorry for not posting it on the right forum.

He told that he had shipped it out and charged USD 31 for that. That is cost of Global Priority Mail to my place. It was almost 6 weeks ago while Global Priority from KW takes at least 3 times less. Why don't answer my mail?

Anyway thanks once more.

Inform your credit card company of suspected fraud and have them do a chargeback. This will get R. Humelbaugh's attention.

Just be aware that US Postal international shipping is very slow, and it is the Holidays right now so things will be even slower than usual.

I placed an order from him in March and got it in May! My package actually did go to the wrong country but eventually made it to me.

Rob's communication has been very much lacking to a lot of customers for a while, so that experience is nothing new. Sad to hear it is continuing. I know that doesn't make your situation any less frustrating. If you're ready to just say the hell with the sheaths and want your money back then contact your card issuer and do a chargeback as suggested above. Hopefully it's not too late for that. I do not believe in my heart of hearts that Rob is out to rip anybody off but the fact that he doesn't get back to people leaves them with precious few options because they have no information.

I've used USPS Internation Priority shipping many times with KSF and each time it has taken a maximum of 7 business days to reach Melbourne from the states. My latest order was placed 26th Nov with no progress in site, the tracking even says they've not yet received the package from KSF (which is incorrect because they've confirmed it went out as advised).

I guess it's because of the silly season - it might be purely a USPS delay rather than fraud. Contact USPS to find out where the shipment is and what type of shipping was used.

Not at all, I think the longest I have waited for a package from the US was about two weeks, it's usually 5-8 days and that's stuff posted to Scotland
and Taiwan. The time of year is going the be the main problem here I think but international post is actually pretty quick in my experience.

Thanks a lot for your comments and suggestions. I will post here when (if?) the case is completed.

He supposedly shipped on Nov. 4th., the Season is no excuse for such a delay.
I shipped stuff to a friend in South Africa in mid November using First Class mail and it barely took 12 days.

Anything coming down to me from the US with either Express or Global priority is usually here in 5-7 working days..........

I hope you get it sorted.

Steven
