What it means is that there is currently no double jeopardy* situation when using eBay and Paying / accepting PP as the payment conduit, i.e, once eBay makes a decision under their Buyer's Protection Program one can not ask PP to step in after the said adjudication by eBay. Also it is correct that eBay no longer owns PayPal and from what I understand, eBay's exclusivity contract with PayPal as the only payment conduit for eBay transactions will expire in 2020. Interesting to see as to what will transpire thereafter.

*regarding double jeopardy: if a buyer pay for the eBay transaction using their credit card and loses a case, they can still open a new claim through their CC company and then PayPal will get involved to protect your rights under their Seller Protection as long as you furnish and provide them with the information which they will require to fight that chargeback on your behalf.
 
Let me tell you as to how honest seller's get screwed on eBay whereby those few dishonest and charlatan buyers get away with both keeping the money and the item they purchase! They can certainly take advantage of such loophole when they claim the item as NOT described or worse a FAKE (counterfeit) in addition to the seller NOT accepting returns. As I had alluded to this matter in another thread in the GKD, the "No Returns" policy is merely a fallacy and when the buyer claims SNAD (sent, not as described) the return communication will be between the buyer and the seller without eBay getting involved. I don't know the particulars of this case, but I suspect that the seller had a no return policy and the buyer made a fraudulent SNAD claim and somehow the seller lost the case which means the buyer kept both the item and also got his funds back. Accepting returns is not the end it all either because the buyer can still return a brick to the seller which has its own very arduous procedural events, but IMHO it is always better to accept returns than not accepting returns and then getting into a p*ssing match with a shyster buyer!

One of the reasons I hate selling stuff on eBay.

Paypal really do not help you, sorry. I've lost $500 knife like that. Also on ebay. They only know how to charge big fees but they don't side with sellers.
Chargeback is not an option for seller too, only for buyer.

It entirely depends on what you sell on eBay. Anything which can be turned around to yield some quick cash for an unsavory type of character, can become very hazardous to sell on eBay. Quality and sought after knives are one of such items which can become perilous if sold on eBay but then again, the same can happen on here albeit to lesser extents and lesser frequencies as the community tends to act as a bulwark to some of the crooks out there.

If this inexperienced thief steals from the wrong person, he just might learn what real "hot spots" are all about. Not just the ones from the knife handles, that cause abrasions to his soft little hands. People who have lived a protected and sheltered life, often overlook the potentially harsher downside to their impulsive behavior. If JG reads this, I would encourage him to swallow his pride, while he still can, and send the money asap to the OP. Even the most experienced con men, can't always avoid the fallout from their anti social behavior. It's a small world anymore.
The Goldstein family that I worked with in the gem trade, were very honorable people. I wonder what the hell happened to this guy. He is a disgrace to his heritage.

I am the Joshua G. pictured above. I was very surprised to get multiple emails and calls at work directing me here. Please believe this is a case of mistaken identity; I don't even have an ebay account. I'm an honest guy with a name that is unfortunately pretty common.

I'm inclined to believe him. The perpetrator lives in the west end of Virginia, while this fellow who you unfairly doxxed is near the "mountaintop" area (north east). And I highly doubt he drives across the entire state of Virginia everyday for work.

Doxxing is not cool either way, perhaps against the rules? It should be.

If the info was wrong that is unfortunate but i never directed anyone to contact anyone and whatever the ebay seller did is on him.I have NO clue what firecowboy did and his actions are his own.Don't try to make this some sort of conspiracy hacker thing since i barely know how to type properly.I merely read the thread and googled info that was already posted.This is why people don't help each other.It's not worth the headache and then people looking for "social justice" Now back to posting pictures of knives.You kids can fight amongst yourselves.

What is really "interesting" is how this person claiming to be joshg 2 found bladeforums and this thread particularly.All i did was make a post here the ebay seller cowboy said he was gonna email him . a simple "i am not the right josh g " would have sufficed ..This person is claiming MULTIPLE calls and emails in less than 24hrs.. So maybe blame the person calling and emailing? Like i said before all i did was highlight the name and address and hit google.I don't even know what doxxing is? some sort of hacking i guess.Yeah i am a retired nyc cop living in fl with my kids.My computer knowledge is limited to a smartphone (and poorly lol)

Doxxing is when you research a user's personal information and then post it for all to see. It does not involve hacking and it is legal, it's just a dick move and hopefully against forum policy. Also you posted the wrong person's info so that is double doxxing.

Yeah i think you are trying to make a mountain out of a molehill. I retired when smartphones didnt exist and myspace was just starting.You sure like that dox word alot.I suppose you spend alot more time on the computer than i do.I was looking for threads onnthe ZT 0562cf because i am buying one and came across this ebay story and merely offered help to the seller who had his knife never returned.I think some people watch too much of that tv show mr robot or something.Since its a beautiful july summer day here in fl im gonna go back to playing catch with my sons dog and watch my kiddie in the pool.. enjoy the rest of your day.
