I have not done a give-a-way in traditional sub-forum since after returning from Blade show last June. This year I wanted to do something a little different that I thought might be kind of fun. Here are the rules,

Open to any Blade Forum member.
You must only post ONCE in this thread.
I will arbitrarily pick a winner with the give-a-way having no set ending time.
I will only ship international at my discretion. If I pick a winner outside the CONUS and decide to not ship, the winner may suggest a recipient in the CONUS.

Now here is what I ask you to do if you decide to play. I ask that you suggest a pattern for me to build to take to Blade Show and put on my table. I ask that you suggest these items,

Pattern
Number of blades, limited to 2. Can be a Jack, pen, double ended Jack. Single spring, single spring with catch-bit, two springs, etc.
Blade Steel, limited to air quench steels, A2, D2, 154cm, CPM154cm, ATS-34 etc.
Closed length
Scale material, limited to Bone, Ivory, Stag, certain Micarta and G10
Please try and suggest a pattern I have not made before, this will be a major factor in my choosing a winner. This will be helpful but not mandatory.

I think you guys get the idea, please have fun, and remember post only once in the thread.

Thanks for the opportunity Ken. I suggest a half-congress with two blades. A Wharncliff main with a killer swedge and a pen in ATS-34. Spring for the pen should be extended. Scales will be ivory and closed length should be 4". Only in my dreams!

How about a peanut with clip and wharncliffe. A2 steel and some peach seed bone or green micarta.

Congress jack was my first choice, but nothing could be wrong with serpentine jack tear drop end with 2 SS pinched bolsters. Main blade is clip with double side swedge, secondary is wharncliff, both with long pull, ATS 34. Extended spring for the secondary blade. Scales made of old Rogers bone and with long bar shield. 3 1/2" - 3 5/8" closed length.

And if I can suggest more than one pattern...

(2) 4" Two blade Surveyor with stag, ebony or bone like the link above.

Any of these steels: 154cm, CPM154cm, ATS-34

I'd be happy to lend you the knives in the photos if you want to pattern them.

I would love to see your take on the give away knife. 154cm blades, clip (broad) and longish pen, sawcut bone scales, dark red or chestnut brown, square pinched bolsters. Length closed between 3 1/4 to 3 3/4. The shield should be unique and the tang stamp could credit the popular OT by saying Old Ken or Old Erickson. Maybe the shield could say 33OT. Could be neat... I will be curious to see what you do finally build.

How about your take on this Russell Barlow. I really like the slim long profile and the bolster has so much room to get creative

How about a big old two blade folding hunter . Like a Case 6265 which I believe is 5" closed with ats-34 steel . Flat ground skinner blade and sabre ground clip with file worked back springs . Jigged bone scales with a nice warm brown tone and a no shield . Rear bolster drilled for a lanyard .

I would suggest a Grandad barlow with one clip and one warncliff blade.

I have two of the grandad barlow patterns, and love them so much.

Even a regular sized barlow with a combo blade (at least one warncliff) Like the Queen small barlow. Your take on the design.

I would suggest Stag as a first choice. Ivory would also be awesome, but I have never owned ivory handled anything, so I can't speak to it's appropriateness for this design.

Couple of examples. I sure love all variations of this pattern. a combo spear/or clip point and a warncliff would me my ideal.

If you wanted to dress it up even more, with endcaps, it still looks great to my eye. Here is a small one from GEC.

Howabout a fish jack in A2 with ebony scales....maybe a fancy shield or the like, possibly the outline of a fish? Match striker pull and 4" closed. Spear point primary and pen secondary.

Here is reference....(second to last on right)

4" swayback jack in CPM154 and thin red micarta or G10. Shadow or pinched bolster, slightly curved rectangle shield if any. Full size wharncliffe no more than 3/32" thick, secondary smaller 1/16" thin Spey (2" or less long). This pattern, to me is a good full sized work knife, with both straight and full bellied blades for maximum versatility. The handle material and steel choice are not labor intensive and pretty tough in my experiences, and it is a knife I'd love. No worries about blood, oil or dropping this one. Should be thin enough for pocket, but thick enough for heavier work, and the wharncliffe long enough to cut food like grapefruit, a main concern of mine with smaller blades as I do much food prep with my slipjoints.

First things first, thanks for the chance!

I don't think I have seen this pattern from you yet. I would like to see your take on the Mini Copperhead.
It has a shapely body, 2 blades, single spring, and sunken joints in small, but not too small, size.

The specs would be
Clip main, Coping or Wharnie secondary (I prefer the coping blade)
Blade and spring steel = etched A2 or 1095
Nickle silver bolsters and liners
Closed length of 3 1/8"
Scales of either ebony wood, or a dark reddish brown smooth bone (whichever one you prefer)
I would go no shield, or an elegant oval shield in nickle silver to match the bolsters/liners.

I like the suggestion Stu makes above. You might just have to make one of those when my name comes up. But, have you made a swell center jack similar to this S&M?

For steel, I'd like to see ATS-34. For scales, I'd like to see mammoth or some of that lovely bone you use.
