well i finely buckled down and finished my post anvil tonight. now it actually looks like an anvil ;) I spiked me in the nuts a few times tonight so i think i need to jam a tennis ball on the end. any way, the horn and heal are both hardened as well as the face. there is a weld joint between the heel and face that is not hardened but thats OK. i am so excited to get it back to my shop and start making stuff. I also made a bending block (bending fork). it has 4 holes that the pins slip into. having the 4 holes gives me lots of size options. i have .25, .375, .5 , .666 , .75 and 1". this way i can bend most any size. next up will be a cut off tool as well as some drawing tools. the possibility's are endless. i would like a spike to make holes as well. well enough talk here is the pictures. o and i can barley move it now  which is a good thing ;):D

I'm just curious about where you're going to jam that tennis ball? :D

I'm not going to post pictures of my anvils because they're nice and I don't want someone like you seeing them :p

I'm going to jam my anvil horn right inside of that tennis ball :jerkit:

JT,
Question,
Approx how much does it weigh?
How did you put in the hardie hole in???? Broach it????
Also do you plan to shim under the center of the stand?
It is one neat looking piece of work!!!

I have not put it on a scale but I'm guessing around 400 pounds from measuring it's volume. To do the hardie hole I drilled it out with a 1/2" drill then plunged a 3/4" endmill down the hole. I then put the heel on the wire edm and had it cut a 1" square hole centered one the 3/4" hole. It's a perfect 1" square hole. The center post and base are solid so it's very heavy. What you see holding it up are 2 stripps of rubber to keep it from moving around. It is very nice.

Is there a reason you made the horn so pointy? 'Cause it makes me hurt in places that I don't much like talking about to strangers (at least, my parole officer says I shouldn't anyway - just kidding! maybe :p ). Seriously though, that looks like a painful accident waiting to happen.

Otherwise - great design! How does it sound? Is it quiet? I didn't really get your bending fork setup until I watched your video - clever!

Actualy the welds look quite good in person. I just put a butt load of weld on the joints for extra strength. The joints are welded inside as well. Because the face is wider then the post I had to put step cuts in the horn and heel. I made the step larger then needed so I could fit a welding rod inside and fill up the gap. Thy are not going any where : D

I was just josh'n :)

I may have been thinking too inside the box ;)

It's an impressive tool you've built Jarod :) You're in an enviable position to have access to stuff like an EDM!

Ehh hemm.... In all earnestness, that's a great looking anvil, JT. Now forge some stuff on it!!!

I might have access to an edm but I would trade it if I could be dreamy like Nick ;)
