On 4/27 I sent another Formite a USPO moneyorder for my first knife purchase off BF.(an Umfaan) It was sent from Northern Ca. to Texas. As of today he has not recieved it!*&%#! Thats 13 days!! (He only had 6 posts but I believe that he hasn't gotten it)...NOW WHAT?? In many eBay deals this has never happened. How long do you guys wait before contacting the PO?? I did another deal here with someone in Hawaii, he got the MO right away and I should have the knife tomorrow if all goes well (sm. Sebenza)
Can the PO Cancel the MO?? I doubt it. I was really looking forward to that knife!*&^%$#!
The Post Office Really P!sses me off. >Barry

If you're referring to Carey York, I bought an Umfaan from him too. There was also a delay in transit but that was because Canadian customs held up the delivery. Carey sent it out very quickly. No, the problem is probably with the mail. 13 days is way too long. I'm not sure how your post office works, but if your seller says he doesn't have it, hustle down to the post office to trace and/or cancel the money order. I'm sure other forumites have more experience with USPS's procedures re missing money orders.

HJK..It was NOT Carey York, but Thanks..I do think I will go to the Post Office tomorrow and file a report or whatever?? >Barry

Yep, i'm biting the bullet right now on a BM730 I shipped to a customer. 2 weeks and still no sign. Ended up sending him another one....You live & Learn!

As much as I HATE UPS - those tracking numbers are VERY NICE in times like these.

FedEx is also good for tracking... a little bit more money - but its the most reliable service I have ever used... in hundreds of shipments over the last 2 years: ZERO lates, losses, or other problems.

Yep George, as bad as I hate to say it(because I work for UPS) I have had more problems with deliverys from UPS than with the Post Office or Fedex. In this dy and age, it is now not enough just to "get" your package, but customers are wanting to trace it all along the way. I have had multiple times where UPS could not even tell me where my package was until it showed up. I use FEDEX or Post Office for all international shipments and have never had a problem.

Thanks Guys...I have used UPS for lots of things but not a Money order. I put the MO in a small security envelope then that in a larger legal size security envelope and mail it....never a problem before. This morning I got email from the seller with all his phone numbers etc. that made me feel better and do believe he hasn't recieved it.My daughter lives in Denmark, packages take 5 days in the mail (by air) and never lost a thing in 20+ years of sending stuff. At least my small Sebenza should be here today from my second Blade Forums deal...YA HOO!

FWIW, I have yet to have a problem w/USPS, while I can recall two problems in the past year or so w/UPS. FedEx is great, but costs more, and I only use it when I can send work-related mail on my office account.

No point in getting "pissed off" at USPS. Things on rare occasions get lost. Frustrating, sure. But why not see how the PO deals w/your problem before burning them? Cancel the MO and send another one.

The good news is, if you kept the stub on the money order, the US Post Office can backtrack whether or not it's been cashed, who cashed it if so, and if uncashed you can cancel it and get a refund.

I really hope you kept the stub. Take it down to a post office and they can deal with it.

Jim

As an aside: if you've been told it's missing but it's really been cashed, it's a "Federal mail system offense" of some sort. The postal inspectors WILL take action, starting with figuring out if the person who denied recieving it was the one that cashed it, or if it was stolen in transit and cashed with false ID.

Nobody should even think about pulling fraud in relation to a money order...

Jim

Thanks Jim.
I did keep the stub.Today I filed a form 6401 with my PO, costs $2.75 and they try to see if it's been cashed etc.might take 60 days but it seems like it works from what several people have said. I also filed a tracer on the actual letter, that is also supposed to work. How I don't know?..The seller in Texas says he has 3 complaints filed against his carrier...Seems like something is going on at his end!...In the future I will send MO's priority Mail w/a tracking number..or certified, or Proof of delivery required....Anything but general first class mail...
Storyville: OK, I'm not p!ssed off anymore, I was just frustrated!!! It was going to be my first knife off the Forums, and a Chris Reeve at that..I realize that mail usually shows up sometime, just not fast enough when ya really want it to arrive, today was 14 days in this case.....(also, the Sebenza the guy sent from Hawaii last Friday hasn't arrived yet)Barry

I almost always use the PO for sending MO and delivering items. On a 2 day Priority Mail a tracking number is avaiable for 35 cents. To this day, I have lost nothing.

However, I did have a MO sent regular 1st class mail take 23 days to travel from INDY to Portland Oregon. I think that it was hand delivered all of the way there. I had given up on it, paid with PayPal and the MO was delivered that very same afternoon. The seller sent me a new MO and the original envelope. It looked like it had been thru a war.

I have many UPS horror stories and Fed Ex is beginning to travel the same road.

NO!...NOT Victoria TX.

But thanks Dave.................>Barry

I sent some knives to US by Air Mail and it took them exactly one month to reach the destination. I talked to our Post Office Manager and was told that it is not unusual especially in US and with registered mail.

But then I sent other packages few days later and they arrived in 6 days.

So I am still a bit confused......

I've had lotsa trouble with the Post Office as well but never got a MO from them. Let me tell you from experience (6 MO lost and one knife through the mail) you are getting a deal for that $2.75. It cost me $10 each for every trace to get the MO reissued or cash back. I think I'll be going to the PO for MO more often!
