Descendant of Nicholas Ehst. Came over in 1728. Settled in Berks Co PA. The homestead has been in the family for 14 generations. The Union Army came and confiscated a wedding meal at the farm during the Civil War.

Grew up in eastern pennsylvania. Worked as a farm hand on a dairy and chicken farm from the age of 10 to 14. Learned to hitch and drive mules and draft horses.

My dad asked me to leave high school when I was 15. They were on the verge of losing their home and losing the business. He was a general contractor doing remodeling and building new homes. The late seventies and early 80s were very hard on his business. So I quit school, and worked for him full time 7 to 3:30 while doing homeschooling to finish school. Worked second shift, 4 to midnight at a gas station also 4 nights a week.

Worked as a carpenter and home builder full time since 1985. Sigh. That's a long time.

Loved knives since boy hood in the 70s. Made knives since 2013.

Currently live on a farm in Missouri. We have cattle, sheep, horses, and poultry. We love to process our own meat. Love to cure pork bellies. Outdoor life, especially outdoor grilling and cooking in wood fire is a passion. I design and build my own line of camp and cowboy grills.


Love to deep sea fish and hunt. Still building.

I was arrested in the 90's for my involvement in an international drug smuggling operation in South Florida. I believe the primary agent went on to receive the Outstanding Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award. I swear he must have had some sort of premonition or sixth sense to figure out where and when I was running loads up the Intracostal.

I had my first son in December, 2018. Second son November, 2020. And my third son December 2023... Toss in a pandemic and everything else over the last 5 years and to say things have been 'interesting' would definitely be an understatement.

I'm half-Irish, half-Lithuanian(dual citizen) with a unique surname who's family came here after the war. And since there's only 228 family members left split between North America and Lithuania, I'm personally responsible for increasing the popularity of my surname by 2.28%. It's a real point of personal pride for me 😁

Other than that, I live in the PNW, am happily married to a Filipino wife, and am just trying to make my way in this world while dealing with the momentous task laid before me; raising three kids. Given my family history, I'm also a big European history buff as a whole (Which probably explains my love of knives) and enjoy reading and learning about the Proto-Indo-Europeans. I know... That last part is definitely not that interesting for most people, but I'm utterly fascinated by our ancient ancestors.

Lastly, for what it's worth, my Filipino father-in-law used to practice Kali/ FMA. I showed him my DEK1 once to look over. He said he loved every aspect of the knife, specially the grip. And thought the combined specs of it made it probably the best defensive knife he's ever handled.

First job was at JPL NASA working thermal operations for the rovers Spirit and Opportunity. Did a decade in digital consulting. I now work in software sales and focus on private equity .
