Post the strangest things you have seen in the woods!!

....hmph.....

That strangest this would have been not something I saw, but something I could hear.

I was a few KM's back in the woods, this was back in Nova Scotia, on family property and I was setting up camp when I could hear a radio playing. I took a few mintues to listen and heard it somewhat moving around my camp site, say 100 meters out, It was dense brush so I couldn't see any thing, so I got up and when looking a bit, the weird thing was that as I moved it moved with me, I could never find the source of it, and I never did stay that night, but it was odd to say the least.

that has actually happened to me a few times before I thought i was crazy until I read about it, and figured out what it was. Sometimes, like how people get songs stuck in their heads, musically inclined people can actually get music stuck in there heads. To the point where they can actually hear it as fully layered music, and not just a melody.

That would make most sense if it was just a song, or maybe even a few different songs, but this was a local radio station playing, and even thought it was not familiar to me, I suppose I could have heard it before.

Odd non the less.

I so want to start hiking the WET COAST trails wearing a sasquatch suit. Just to freak people out and start tales of terror ......

Story 1: Once (thank God) when I was about 13 me and a few of my friends
were hiking in a the nearby creek. We usually would follow the creek for
a couple of miles. At one point we saw some dude totally naked
washing with a bar of soap in the creek which was about 3-4" deep.

Story 2: Same creek area we find a cove of trees that has all sorts of
strange markings like skulls, odd pictures, symbols etc. and also
hanging from these trees are all sorts of animal skulls. Very spooky,
especially when you're 13.

Were you hunting/eating shroons???

Not sure about your radio station experience, but I have had some very interesting experiences with "sound travel." I've heard conversation from as farm away as a quarter mile. They were folks talking at regular volume levels and impossibly far away for me to hear. But on more than one occasion the "wind" picked up the sounds and delivered them to my space (no pun intended) such that I could hear every word and nuance of tonal expression. Quite interesting really. This happened on more than one occasion on two different farms.

I've seen them before too. They are trees that are covered with a phosphorescent fungus. Doesn't look like much in the day, but it glows like a watch dial at night.

When I was a teen, there was a large patch of woods with that glowing fungus (foxfire I think it's called?) behind a firend's house. We would play night paintball there because of it.

Was canoeing a local lazy river back in the 80's when my buddy and I passed a guy in a canoe. We cruised past without talking and when we got about 50 yards or so down, said to each other "did we actually just see that?" Dude was about 300 lbs and buck naked. From then on, we decided to call it "The canudist incident"

I created a strange event for someone else once also. A couple of guys were giving me and my bud a hard time at the local tavern, razzing us we were not so tough and anyone can hack it in the woods, so we challenged them to come out with us on a canoe overnighter. We killed a chicken before we left and paddled WAY ahead of them on the first day. There was an old dock about a mile or so before the camping area, so we nailed the chickens head to the dock, drew some pentagrams and stupid crap on the dock in blood, then backpaddled a 1/2 mile or so and sat on the bank eating lunch. As the macho, he-men paddled by, they remarked how manly they were, how small our manhood was, and said they would beat us to the camp area because we were weak. After a half hour or so, we paddled to the dock, took down the chicken and cleaned everything up. Then we paddled on to camp. When we got to camp, the "togh guys" were losing their minds that there was devil worshippers, the jersey devil and Jason climbing all over and said they were not staying the night. We told them, "no way to get out, camp is canoe in or pack in only" and we said they were crazy. Told them we didn't see anything. After dinner we all back paddled up to the dock and of course everything was clean.

The next morning, they were gone before we got up. Went home to their wives and never busted our chops again.

This sign is miles from any vehicle traffic. Strange.

But not as strange as this Chupacabra skull.

Weirdest thing I've seen wasn't that weird, just really odd. We were night hiking at made a camp, and when we did we noticed this extremely odd set of gray strands, all connected. It looked exactly like a huge chunk of scalp with hair attached. Funny thing was it wouldn't burn. Odd.

the funnier part is that you tried to burn it :D

Looks like there may have been an old logging road there. It is not unusual to see random signs around the woods where old logging roads intersect with local trails. The signs facing the trails often get left behind because they are facing away from the main road.

Hah, no, no shrooms:D

That is interesting though, maybe I was just moving and the sound moving around me was a coincidence?

This isnt necessarily strange, but it is kinda neat:

And yes, I know my dog has a sweater on!!:D

This is not my story, but my good friend. He and his uncle were hunting elk in Utah. (thus they were not drinking at all, they never drink or do drugs). The friend saw a decent trophy elk, took a seated rest position and shot it. It was a good hit, and staggered the elk, which took off at a wobbly run downhill. They were a couple hours hike up above the snow like in their winter clothes and heavy snow boots etc. They followed the blood trail for a ways and figured with all the blood they would find it bled out in a few minutes. Just a short hike later they found a massive blood pool, at the end of the elk's tracks, where it looked like the elk had laid down and bled out. There was a set of large foot prints leading up to the elk tracks, and the bloody outline of where the elk had laid down. The foot prints were weird because they were Bare Foot tracks. Human with no shoes on. He said they were not monster big foot prints. They were just human sized about size 13 or 14 at the most. But they were not very deep leading up to the blood pool where the elk laid down. but they were deep leading away from the elk blood pool, and there were no elk tracks away. Just the deep, bare foot human tracks. If you know the size of an adult elk, it seems impossible that any one person could pick one up and just walk off with it. There were no drag marks either. The tracks lead into a dark grove of trees a little way away. The sun was setting. Still light, but going to be getting dark before they could hike out. They looked at each other, looked at the foot prints apparently carrying off a full grown bull elk, and decided to call it a day. They were both armed with rifles and pistols, but they just said they had a bad feeling about it, and took off.
