Post up some Chestnuts for the Holidays

In somewhat of a departure from my usual stag handled knives, I picked up this Case 6332 Chestnut Stockman CV. It had been in the showcase at my Case dealer for a while and looked like it needed a good home, but, like all my knives, will work for its living as it did today while repairing a bird feeder.

I was impressed with the fit and finish and especially the grinds on all the blades. They were perhaps as even as I've ever seen on a production knife.

Out of the box, all three blades easily push cut typing paper and after a swipe or two on the Sharpmaker and the strop, the blades are what y'all call "scary sharp".

I extremely pleased with this delightful little knife and look forward to using it even more.

Please post up all the CV Chestnuts you may have in time for the Holidays.

Hi Dan! Congrats on the nice medium Stockman! Good idea for a thread - Chestnut bone is my favorite Case bone. Here's my CV Chestnut Peanut:

Beautiful knives folks, ya know I don't believe I own any Chestnut Bone, I'm gonna have to look now, BTW, love the whittler.

My only Chestnut bone so far but I have a 1975 Case canoe inbound that looks to have similar coloration. I can honestly say this swayback jack could be the nicest knife I own and that's saying a lot considering all the more expensive knives I've purchased. It's a sweet little jewel of a knife, I know my pictures won't do it justice.

i love gecs but i ask members has any company surpassed case in their bones?dennis

I'm a little biased Dennis :D, but there are a few of Case bone offerings that will be very hard to surpass IMHO. The Tested era Green bone, and the early red bones.

However, the current offerings in green and red leave a lot to be desired for my eyes, as well as some of the other "wild" colors. YMMV though.

The Chestnut bone offerings are right at the top of my list, behind the others I mentioned. I think they really nailed it with the Chestnut. There are some great pics in this thread.

I'm still trying to figure out why I haven't gotten one yet. I don't often buy new knives, but I've been fighting the temptation to get a new Chestnut Mini Trapper. I think I'm starting to get weak though :D

If we are talking Stag though, I think GEC has that market cornered. I'm still amazed at the Stag they are putting on their knives...
I wasn't that fond of Stag in the past, because in my tiny brain I have an idea of how I want it to look, and the few Case Stag knives I've had were not real appealing to me.

I strongly agree with you here:thumbup: My Swayback Chestnut is such a well-made knife and at a very reasonable price, can't find fault with it-same with the Pocket Worn Greenbone stainless one, exceptional finish. The Medium Stockman I have in Chestnut, whilst not as well-finished is certainly a very decent and worthy knife. Fabulous bone this.

Todd, that Copperhead not only has very good scales, I admire the blade choice too:thumbup:

Ah, Chestnut is bone , not wood. I would say sorry , but that would show weakness.

Todd,
That Seahorse is special

A great stockman

Themz nice Chestnuts you got there mister:thumbup:

Thanks for noticing Rayric.
Beginning to think I must have bumped the 'invisible' icon.
Especially when the smooth peanut slipped by w/o comment.
Oh well guess it's hard to roast chestnuts, rewind the Victorola,
stoke the fire, mix eggnog and chew fruitcake all at the same time.

Oops left one out--00128 Chesmutt 6347
