Post Up Your NEW Gear ...

Bought some nice, new red scales for my SAK Huntsman. The originals were ~20yrs old and the toothpick side was broken at the toothpick-slot. It looks like a new knife with everything so shiny.

All for the grand sum of ~$13 including shipping from Canada.

my buddy didn't use his rei 20% off and gave it to me so i got a suunto m3 global.

Sweet, I use my M-3 for backpacking or day-hikes, but sometimes I think the added weight of my MC-2G may be worthwhile for tick check use of the mirror alone. Plus, the MC-2G dampens better/faster and doesn't need to be as level in reading. I don't do hardcore orienteering yet where I'd really want to use the mirror for sighting.

Can never have too many of these, I suppose :D

I always end up giving em away as gifts to deserving friends, I really need to start keeping more for myself.

I'll actually be heading to Yosemite pretty soon. With this new addition.

Sweet! I like those Survive Knives quite a bit  They just look like good workers. Very nice, Tixx, not to mention the Kiahdex completing the package. Rock on

Excellent, thanks for the picture with the F1, now I have something for comparison. What's the thickness on those again?

.156 (5/32) A little under the F1 which is .18

Nice. One of these days... I'd probably get one exactly like yours. Or simple BCM. The drill divot is a nice add-on too, doesn't detract from anything.

Where will you be in Yosemite?

Got the sheath in the mail yesterday & set it up last night. Picked up the Schnapps cup at my local outdoor shop yesterday too!

Nice pic, thanks for posting.

Which is your favorite of the two Fallknivens?

F1 still is my favorite. Next is the WM1, then the S1 and the A1. All have their uses, but for camping and hiking the F1 and WM1 do everything necessary without adding unnecessary additional weight. In my opinion of course. I don't chop down trees with my knives or get to crazy. :) If I think I am going to be making a shelter of natural materials, then a small Silky Saw does the trick.

So who is the maker of the sheath and for what knife? What is the pack attached (Maxped Stobe?) and what is it filled with (looks larger than an altoid tin if it is a strobe pouch)? I have questions! :D

Ok, lemme try this in order.
It's a Mashed cat sheath for a Swamp Rat Ratmandu with black paper micarta slabs I've had hangin' in my safe for about 3 years! LOL
The pouch is an Esee pouch for their knife sheaths. I love these things for most of my kydex sheaths! Their hole pattern matches up with most standard hole patterns for large tekloks so they're real handy for kydex!
And good eye on the tin! It's a Sucret's throat lozenge tin. They're slightly shorter than an altoids tin, but about 1/4" thicker! I've been toyin' with this kit for a bit & I've got a tritium torch (tritium flashlight requiring no batteries) I really wanna utilize in a tin kit. One of those "set it & forget it" kind of things that won't need upkeep if I don't need it or forget to replace batteries. It's a work in progress, but here's a pic.

The tritium torch is the thick black block on the right. The idea I'm workin' on with this tin is primarily fire, with shelter, food, and escape all about equally second. I really need to add some water tabs. Oh, and the weird black thing at top is a hobo fishing reel I mocked up out of a scrap of kydex I had layin' around. I'm pretty proud of it! It works great & weighs next to nothing.
Edited to add, on the outside of the tin, I've got a tiny diamond sharpener and an arrowcard dogtag attached with duct tape.

Thanks for all that additional info! Cool concept on the fishing and that trit light seems cool and nuclear! I do have one of those tins as well in my bag o tins. Sometimes have to get a Altoid, CountyComm and Sucrets out all at once to find best configurations. :)

I might have to try one of those pouches. Been hard to leave my standard strobe pouch all these years though.

Would love to see that light when you are done.

Thanks again!

It's not very bright is the only problem with the light. You can read by it, & it has a visible "beam" at about 6', so you can "see" with it at night, but it's only useful in total darkness. Here's an in the dark pic.

you have a normal m3 then? mine is the m3 global and aside from the baseplate/mirror, all the parts look exactly the same as the mc-2g...dampens just as fast too.

the mirror will come in handy on overnighters/next day when i have to put my contacts back on - no need to dig out my signal mirror :)

Yep, normal, and yes, your M-3G should function the same needle-wise whereas my regular M-3 does not. But like I said, sometimes I think the added weight for the mirror is worthwhile, especially now in tick season, even if I don't have a functional sighting use for the mirror yet. The dampening and level thing are bonuses at my level of use. And obviously, the global is nice if I were to travel out of country more.
