I have this inbound from Jackson, WY. An old military Silva Type 6 graduated in mils. Induction dampening. Likely made for the military market --- and likely the Norwegian Army at that. Compass is Swede (Silva). Baseplate is Norwegean (Weswitco).

I decide to stream line how many bags I had so I am down to two bags one being the IBEX -20 I purchased on their Black Friday sale. I carry their husky organizer on the inside, mounted to the outside is the 7x10 IFAK mounted to the molle where the bungee cord lived with four down range gear female clips. The IFAK has full blow out kit and full first aid kit.
The side pockets are ATS GSP pouches that are 7x3x3 and fit perfectly between the top and bottom compression straps.
I mount two Mystery ranch compression straps to the bottom mount and last loop on the back, again using the down range buckles.
On the harness those are duraflex bungee clips.
I have EDC this bag every day since I got it and took it on many day trips with the kids to zoos, museums etc overall VERY pleased with it and my current set up.
It versatility is amazing and on a scale of 1 to 5 for comfort in carrying when loaded up is close to a 4.

Bought a Maxpedition pouch. Disappointed in finding its made in Taiwan. Ah well I won't feel guilty about buying knock off pouches for a fraction the price. I've bought a couple from China and the quality is the same as the Maxpedition.

2 Nalgene 48 ouncers. Next to my 38oz Guyot for size reference. Most times, when the wife and I do day hikes, we take the 38oz Guyot, and an extra canteen of water. More for cooking and clean up, than for drinking. 2 of these should suffice, and I can carry them in either my Kelty MAP 3500 water bottle pockets, or my Tarahumara.

New top and bottom quilts for the hammock from JRB!! The mount washington 4 and high sierra sniveller, I can't believe after all these years I'm giving up the MSS for hammocking, I'd say I'd enjoy the weight reduction but something tells me I'll just end up carrying more steel :D

^ light is right :D

I recently found out that Filson had discontinued their whipcord wool pants :( I've worn this style pant for the last 35 years (just two pairs over that time period) during my career as both a wilderness ranger and game warden (as well as big game hunting, hiking, snowshoeing, backcountry skiing, etc). The first pair I paid right at $100 which was unheard of for a pair pants; after wearing them I would have paid double that (which I almost did 15 years later :)). It's an extremely tight weave that bucks wind and moisture, but still breathe. The tight weave also helps them in the brush and is why I get 15-20 years out of a pair- wearing them a lot! I wear them from 50-ish degrees to below 0, just adjusting my bottom base layer accordingly. They are bar none the best (and most used) pants I've ever owned, so you can imagine my shock learning they were discontinued. A call to Filson confirmed they were discontinued and they had none in stock. They told me to check their two outlet stores (one in WA and one in MN)- the WA store had a few pairs, but they were much too big. I almost didn't call the MN store, but did- they had some in my size- a slightly different style (same exact material) w/ small cargo pockets. I almost fell off my chair when he told me how much, I ordered two pairs- which by my calculations should get me to about age 120 :D

check closely the retail price on the tag vs the sale price

Bit of a drunk impulse buy, but I'll find a use for it. I have plenty of chopping knives and a big old axe in the shed, but this just looked too awesome not to get..

it might just be a wall hanger, who knows.

Even though I am not that fond of spikes, I'd say that's one helluva nice impulse buy! :)

Congrats!! How do you like it?

Much too early to tell. Nicer than I expected, but she reminded me how much I do not like synthetic handles. I much prefer the warmth of wood, even if isn't the toughest handle material. I think this is a good knife to have on hand. A quality piece, and inexpensive enough that you don't mind lending or even giving it away.

Really nice score, Mt! Do they ship from the outlet stores?

they did, unfortunately no website to peruse, but if there happens to be a Filson item you're looking certainly worth making two phone calls to see if they happen to have in one of their outlet stores :)
