Post Up Your NEW Gear ...

I'm guessing too thick? That was my complaint anyway, when I had a Bravo-1 (also rampless, but normal blade).

Some surprise bills turned out to be less than I thought they might be, so I was able to order a HPG Kit Bag this month after all. Looking forward to checking it out! If I have enough funds this month, I may try to pick up the Ultimate Direction PB Adventure Vest I've been wanting too...

Great shoes. I had the terroc 330 and wore them into the ground. Tough to find the 295's in my size (14).

Open Country HA aluminum pots - 0.7/3-cup and 1.9L/2-quart pots with clamp handle. I'll be taking the 700ml pot on solo trips, 1.9L for two person.

I moved to Colorado for work for six months so decided to buy a mountain bike while I'm here.

Its only got front suspension, no rear suspension. Should be fine for my uses

What didn't you like about it?

Too thick for a bushcrafter and the handle is a little slick for my taste. It is your typical bark handle but not the best in my hands. I know many swear by them but I am a Falkniven handle all the way. Other than that it really is awesome.

Vortex 10x25 monocular.

I wanted something I would actually carry and use. Love my small Nixon binoculars, but having them hanging from my neck and bouncing around was extremely annoying. This I can attach to my shoulder strap.

Tixx, is that a vortex solo? How are the optics compared to your nikons?

REI Flash from Sufler  My torso is longer than indicated in the specs, but it feels ok so far somehow, different that my old Osprey Daylite that just fit badly because my torso was too long for it. Initial impressions and fiddling lead me to think it'll work well, we'll see how it goes in use. 315.5g/11.1oz  Going to run some shock cord on the front, and try to see if I have any stiffer foam in the right size to stick in the foam pad pocket.

Super excited about the HPG Kit Bag! Can't wait to put this guy to solid use. The place I'm hiking in tomorrow is 96*F today, so we'll see how I like using it when it's hot out. Maxped Mini-RollyPoly for water carry when just using the Kit bag on short day-hike jaunts or hikes away from a base camp when backpacking. When I don't need it, it'll stay folded up in the HPG. At 481.6g/17oz, this isn't exactly my general light gear preference, but I prefer the robustness for carrying essentials on me and not in my pack. And if using alone, weight isn't much of an issue.

nice! i've been lucky so far during my hikes the high only got up to 70° f or so.

I brought a temp probe along for the hike. 16mi, a little over 4.5k' climbed with one section 1.5k' in about a mile, and my temp probe read air temp at 40*C/104*F when I took a lunch break. I definitely could have cooled off more easily without the bag, but I didn't find it unbearably hot over the course of the day. I only took it off during one break to take full advantage of ridgetop breeze and during lunch, otherwise, it carried like a dream. And I love the way the CCW compartment forms a shelf when open. I carried my map and compass in there, so much easier to get to on demand and it fits a gallon size ziploc perfectly

I look like a dork wearing the thing, but boy is it functional. :)

So far, I'm VERY impressed with it, and foresee a lot of use backpacking and hiking.

kifaru g2 molle express is here :D

good things come in 3's: zxr, ku3700, and molle express covers heavy overnighter, ultralight overnighter, and day hike/edc stuff.

thanks! what's messed up is i don't even like the molle express all that much. i prefer a drawstring top closer with a top lid similar to the zxr and ku3700...what i really want is an osprey atmos in 30 liters or smaller but it doesn't exist so the mollex is my 2nd choice :o

I prefer the same, but either just the drawstring closure, or a roll-top dry bag closure

What about the Stratos 26/36?

What about the Stratos 26/36?

i tried that awhile back - the waist belt just doesn't feel perfect to me. i want the padded area to wrap around as much around me with very little exposed webbing. the atmos series has that nice adjustable length and at maximum extension it wraps around me completely. i'm really super picky when it comes to gear. right off the bat i don't even like this molle express as much because of the 21" stays compared to the 24" on the zxr and ku3700. i can't help but focus on the little things and blow it up into big issues, lol.

like the lanyard hole on knives - if it's too close and it's touching my pinky finger then that'll bug the heck outta me and doesn't matter how good the rest of the knife is, i'm getting rid of that knife - that's why i sold my f1, mainly because of the lanyard hole :o

I hear ya, I'm the same somewhat (picky about gear). I had a similar complaint when I had the 26, aside from the Air Speed not being for me, the fixed top lid, the lack of a stretchy front pocket for quick access items or wet stuff, etc. It's all good - it helps me narrow down what features/designs work and don't work for me. The steady evolution (as far as packs go) has led me to the ULA packs, and so far, they're near perfect for me (even down to the generously sized dyneema side water bottle pockets, which have drain holes!). There are a couple of things I want to change on my Circuit, basically taking some features from the Ohm and applying it to the Circuit, but so far so good.

Anyway, I'm still envious of all the kifaru goodness :) Have fun with em!

have you tried the Perpetuem solids before? I use the powder for long runs, wouldn't win any culinary awards, but it's packed w/ the right mix of complex carbs, protein and even a little fat

I've used the Perpetuem mix before (sample gifted from a friend, unflavored though), tried HEED once or twice. Tried one perpetuem solid, this flavor and found it fine, so I figured I'd give a batch a go with them being on sale  I may get sick of the flavor by tab 50 or something though, haha, entirely possible :)
