ospreys are awesome packs for the price - i've used several and would recommend them highly. the atmos series is probably their best/most comfortable pack in my experience.

I've been meaning to post some new gear for a long time. I'll toss-up some pictures in rapid succession sometime. In the meantime, I just ordered a Hilleberg Soulo tent. I love tents and own several, but I "need" a solo/one person tent. I love to do quick, mid week solo backcountry ski trips [as in leave around 8pm and back home by 0700]. Minimalist bivy sacs don't always offer the best protection [plus I don't enjoy them] and tarps can be a pain-in-the-a$$ to erect plus I'm usually above tree line. I've always wanted to try Hilleberg so here goes, they look amazing. I bought the green model which will keep me hidden!

went to campmor right after an overnighter early this week and impulse bought a flint & steel kit...bearthedog convinced me to buy that gerber axe though :p

it already replaced my nalgene flask as my in-my-pocket-at-all-times-except-while-sleeping water bottle during last tuesday's overnighter :) i can carry more water while still having that molded feel so it's definitely better for me...thanks again!

JV3 i'm noticing a trend that you're switching to coyote brown!

I myself have been buying mostly foliage green instead of black like I always did. I think as i've gotten older I find the more earthtone colors to fit me better.
 
Picked up some Ariat Drifters yesterday at Bass Pro. I havent taken them off in the past 24 hours besides for sleeping haha

Agreed. FG is my color of choice. It's low key and blends in just about any environment.

indeed...it started with the hill people gear recon kit bag, no black except the limited run they did recently (which i bought as my 2nd). aside from black, coyote brown is really the only other color i really like. the ku3700 only came in coyote brown then the timberline 3 black was not an option again.

i actually sold my black zxr recently to a friend of mine with the intention of replacing it with a t2. i kinda miss it but if i buy another one it'll most likely be coyote brown now though because everything else is already brown.

...my cars will always be black exterior and black interior always though. for me black cars and clothing just looks sleek. if i won the lottery i'd buy 100 cars and they'd all be black inside and out :p

Ditto on the Foliage Green for me, but I do browns/khaki/black too. I like the subdued color for regular gear, bright screaming stuff for "emergency" gear.

Wanted to switch my headlamp to AA, and couldn't resist getting a matching handheld.
I'd sworn off Zebralight due to persistent waterproofing issues, but it's really not a problem with my hiking/backpacking lights(headlamp is under a hardshell's hood in the rain, anyway).
Hard to stay away from the best UI, form factor, beam profiles and tint on the market-these are about as good as it gets for outdoor use.

Nice! :thumbup: I'm just waiting on funds to pull the trigger on the H52w (DC-Fix for removable floody) to replace my H51w as my outdoor light. Probably get ZL's 14500 and a charger as well, 500 lumens on first minute of high is pretty nice. In the meantime, I'm fine with gen 3 eneloops or L91s.
 
That's a lot of trouble to go to for 1 minute of increased output! Actually it should make more difference between the high modes, too. I had to use a lithium AA to set my high2 to the lower 102 lumen mode. With 1.2V LSD rechargeables, I couldn't tell the difference between the 102 and 163 lumen settings, and could barely tell those from the "266 lumen" high1.
These things are really bright, regardless. I'd actually like to be able to disable the high modes altogether. I don't expect that I'll ever use more than the 11 or 23 lumen medium2 mode for hiking with the H52Fw, the 2.6 lumen low1 for around camp, and .32 lumen low2 for inside the tent. It's gonna run a loooong time on those settings, though!
