Just glanced through the book so far. Very happy with the layout and quality of paper and pictures. This book will last a long time in the backpack. I like the small pics with the page number for more detail. Here's another pic incase anyones interested in buying a copy.

That looks like the kind of book I've been searching for, thanks! I will definitely have to check it out. I'm also poor at identifying trees so if you or anyone else can recommend me a good "tree book" that would be awesome.
 
It does have a tree section. I can take s few pics of the tree section a bit later. It covers evergreen and which parts are usable. Pretty interesting

Received some goodies in the mail yesterday. Got a Toaks Titanium 2000ml pot. It will replace my MSR Titan Kettle so I can actually cook a decent amount of food while out in the wilderness. The included bail handle is great and the stuff sack is really nice too.

Also received a few SpoolTools. If you haven't seen these yet I recommend checking out some Youtube reviews on them. I haven't seen a better way to store cordage yet. Its made from a high-quality polymer instead of cheap plastic and includes an integrated razor blade for easy cord cutting as well as a mini Bic lighter holder to seal the ends of your cordage after you cut it. The notches hold the end of your line extremely secure so there's no fear of any unraveling. I got one to keep paracord on and another for bank line. I was able to fit about 90 feet of paracord and probably double that of bank line.

The Izula is not new, but decided to try the scales as KSF had them on sale, along with the SPY-DK which I'm really enjoying. three years without a pocket-clipped EDC due to the move. Its real nice.

Really digging the mini-bushcrafter. for such a small knife it feels really good, cuts like a laser. I'm interested to see how that very subtle belly does, I think it will be good, Use will tell. As far as capabilities, I figure it should easily handle anything I can throw at it.
 
Also looking to get one of those plant books from the same series. It looks good.

jonny, I've found the best tree books are locally produced by forestry industry or similar groups. That way you won't have to sort through trees which are not in your area, and some have useful information on traditional uses and industrial history. Though if you travel a lot perhaps you want a large reference book.

This summer I have been "rucking" it allows me to get a work out while the wife and kids join in cause its at a fast walking pace. Its nice and works out well mid ruck i run a hill and stairs there is a park so the kids stay out of my hair. Now to the gear, I am a HPG junkie of sorts :) so attached is my set up. One tara on a runners harness attached to my kit bag, docked under the bag is a kifaru mid long pocket and on the compress straps of the tara is a camel bak 3L hot shot. On the hotshot I took off the D rings and added dock n lock hardware. Inside the tara is a 20 lb bag of medium grain Goya rice in a CLASS kifaru pull out :). In the pocket first aid kit, poncho and misc stuff. Kit bag contains S&W 38 stubby made in 1980ish (father in law left it to me in his will) wallet, phone light and a few odds and end. The whole "rucking" rig is probably an un official wieght of 25-28 lbs.

Came in Thursday morning to the job. Goruck 15L bullet in wolf grey and goruck pack belt, not designed to go on the bullet but it was on sale and was a great help when bear crawling :) walked 8 mile (round trip) 20lb bag of rice topped off with 6lbs in dumbbells.

Got a few Goalzero goodies to make my stay in the deep woods a little more enjoyable. I got 3 of their 20 watt foldable solar panels.
