HAHA, that is my photo from the elk hunt in 2013. As JV3 says, they compress a good deal more than when they are stuffed. Here for instance is a 32oz nalgeen with the Warbonnet supertarp in the middle and a Warbonnet dual layer XLC hammock at the top. Each will compress to about 1/3 the stuffed size. I use Kifaru UL 3 string stuff sacks to compress the hammock and tarp individually and a 5 string M to compress the -10F top and bottom quilt, or a 5 string Small to compress the 30F top and bottom quilt. Really the best way to sleep when living out of a pack.
And it is very roomy inside even with the door sealed shut. This is with the Hammock gear -10F quilts, a Hennessy hammock that I had modified by 2QZQ with the full zip top, peak bag, and ridge line organizer. Still a great setup, and my daughter uses this in the summer with a Jacks R better Hudson river top quilt and Nest under quilt. I have had both hammocks hang under the supertarp like bunk beds. But I will be honest, there is a reason the warbonnet XLC is my go to hammock, it really is the best I have found.
My daughters setup (moderate weather only), say 50 or so, Ive had it to low 30s before, but I did feel it.
